It sounds like the Heat are in a similar situation with Whiteside as the Mavs are with Parsons- won't offer the max until the bigger fish are already off the table. Whiteside might not be such a longshot after all. If he's really insistent on having a max deal on July 1st, then time is on the Mavs' side.
