Pretty much everyone is predicting a Warriors win. But then, back in 2011, virtually no one expected the Mavs to win any of the series. Once again, we have one superstar and a bunch of guys who know their role and play as a team. Every team they have faced had more talent and more all stars. But a great team can beat a collection of great talent. Just ask LeBron. He recently called the 2011 Finals the lowest point in his career.

Here's to hoping that Steph is saying the same thing about 2022. and soon.
We were definitely favored in 2011 over the Blazers and Thunder. We all know what an all-time upset the Finals was though. However, for me at that time, the way we utterly destroyed the reigning two-time defending champion Lakers was far more shocking, and that's when I knew the Mavs had a real shot at the title. 4 game sweep, 40 point blowout in game 4.

So yeah the 2011 comparisons are fair. We pulled off a shocking upset against the heavy championship favorite, utterly destroyed and humiliated them on their homecourt. And the Warriors team that stands in our way is good, but nowhere near the juggernaut Warriors teams of yesteryear.

Make no mistake, the Mavs have a very realistic chance to win the championship. We may not be favorites, but we shouldn't be that heavy underdogs either. The four teams left in the field are pretty evenly matched IMO. We're right in the mix.

But you know what we have that the other three teams don't? The best player left in the playoffs by FAR.
