Teletovic, who stands 6 feet 9 and 242 pounds, played for Caja Laboral in Spain, averaging 22 points and 6 rebounds in Euroleague play. A skilled shooter, he converted 43.8 percent of his 3-point attempts.
The Nets used the midlevel exception to sign Teletovic, which — under the N.B.A.’s new labor deal — means they cannot exceed $74 million in payroll next season.
They also may have taken themselves out of the running for Jason Kidd or any other significant free agent. It is unclear what Kidd might command in a starting salary, but he will probably seek at least $3 million. The most the Nets can offer any free agent now (other than their own) is the biannual exception, which is worth $1.96 million.
