Even if Yao never becomes the next dominant player, he will be worth it. Size comes at a premium in the NBA ask the Kings or the Mavericks. Let alone the Spurs who paid 65 million for a guy to sit on the bench.

Kwame for Butler was a good trade for LA. Even if Kwame only avgs 7 points and 7 rebounds a game. The Lakers had a glutton of small forwards. Every team dreams of adding an elite free agent. Teams will lock down their quality players even if they aren't worth max contracts. AK47, Antwan Jamison, etc.
