And no, hate is not always a two-way street. I have no hatred of blacks. My sister, who is white, married a black man, and they have two daughters. Another sister adopted a bi-racial baby. However, I saw first hand the hatred of blacks against whites while I was in Alabama. So is my being white my side of that two-way street? Is it incumbent upon me to "pay" for the actions of others, which caused this racism in America?

If you have any pre-conceived notions about someone based upon their race, then you're continuing the cycle - acknowledging racism only obliges it...
Personally, I experience very little racism in my own life... Not that I don't run into it here & there, but I find that looking a man in the eye as an equal goes a long way in dispelling any pre-conceived notions they might have about ME based on MY race... "Treat others as you would like to be treated" is a highly successful method for breaking down barriers (that Jesus guy was onto something...)
