Rant: Some 45-year-old soccer mom with her 12-year-old daughter in the car just followed me in our neighborhood for 3-4 blocks so she could roll down her window and yell at me for driving too fast (~35) on the neighborhood streets.
What bothers me isn't even that she did that, because I understand she has kids and wants them to be safe on the streets, but it was the way she did it:
"EXCUSE ME....sir!" (sarcastic tone)
"Yes?"
"Yeah, hi, I'm the lady you almost plowed into back there."
"Oh? I'm sorry."
"Yeah, well, you're sorry...that's a blind turn up there, so next time why don't you TRY slowing down. I mean, if that's alright with you." (sarcastic)
"Ok."
"Yeah, thanks." (again sarcastic) *drives off*
Why is it that some people, once they have children, feel it's appropriate to talk down to and/or lecture anyone who is their junior? I'm not your son, lady. I'm not even some punk teenager. I'm 24, I'm a functioning, contributing member of society. If you wanna talk to me, talk to me like I'm a fellow adult, not one of your own offspring.
