After that, we have no one else who would start in the NBA, and depend on significant minutes from guys who'd be at the end of the bench elsewhere, like Mcgee and CV.
Mostly our Mavs are a bunch of guys no one else wanted, like Felton and JJB.
I'm amazed we are even in the playoff hunt. Its a testament to Carlisle that we are even competitive.
Of course we won a championship with a bunch of misfits, but Dirk was a dominant beast then, and Jet was a consistent 4th quarter scorer...we have neither of those things now.
And that 20-8 start? It had one quality win. The rest were patsies.

I still think the offense should be much better than it has been. The talent offensively is there. I just think the whole scheme isn't working. Players don't look comfortable, and the plays being run look either awkward or mediocre in execution. It's astonishing that the team is actually carried by the defense on many nights.
I think if the Mavs do poorly and have another first round exit, then the offense needs a big overhaul or an offneisve assistant coach who can inject some life into it.
