The problem with the deal for Powell is that he was restricted. They didn't need to set the market on him. The market was going to come to them.
However, I think one of Cuban's strategies is that he pays for loyalty. That's why he maxed Matthews after Jordan bailed. He's going for the emotional coddling of his players with money. I think he's an idiot.
