Cuban: Mavs' talks with Lewis 'great'
From Staff and Wire Reports
Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said meetings with SuperSonics free-agent forward Rashard Lewis went "great." Lewis toured the Mavericks' facilities at American Airlines Center and the team plane Thursday, and met with several players later that night. He flew to Houston on Friday.
The Mavericks can offer Lewis a three-year contract for approximately $15 million, while Seattle is offering a seven-year deal approaching $70 million. Though the difference is staggering, Cuban is somewhat more optimistic after courting Lewis for 24 hours.
"It's still a long shot, but it's a better shot than before he came here," Cuban said.
Meanwhile, Cuban expects to finalize the seven-year, $60 million extension with Raef LaFrentz now that LaFrentz's agent has returned from his vacation.
