he's right about it being "significant". he's right that we shouldn't "overhype this election", I'm sure you'll agree that the election is at best symbolic and the real solution is a functioning government of iraq.

will this election make that a reality? we will see, it's a good step forward. tomorrow will be just the same as yesterday in iraq tho, it's going to take more.

IMO it's legitimate enough for the type of election it was. Bush should send something to al sistani, he owes him bigtime. but then again bush did a huge favor to al sistani when he threw out hussein.

the good news is there were very few attacks, the insurgents were shown to be weak.
