RE:Inside-Out
You're right Puba. We rely too much on long-range offense. But we rely too much on offense in general. Even the best offensive teams are going to have a few bad games here and there (this entire series, mainly), but if we could play solid defense like we did in game 3 all the time, that would be the key.
Monday night was one of the worst shooting displays I've ever seen from this team. Dirk was missing all of his open looks that he usually makes 9 times out of 10. Nash got pretty hot for a while and then puttered out when it counted. Walker did alright, but still missed some easy layups. Finley... well, he's on a bad streak. Moving the team's offense to the inside would be a good idea. We have a lot of interiod and post-up talent (Nowitzki, Walker, Jamison). They could carry the load, attract the defense's attention towards them, and then we'd have Nash and Finley lingering around the perimeter for those wide-open jump shots that we all know they can make consistently. Dirk can do pretty much anything, so he could score from anywhere on the court.
What happened to the slasher Michael Finley that I used to watch last year? He seems to rely on his jump shot too much also. If we could use this team's passing talent to feed the ball to Finley in the key, we could score a bunch of easy baskets.
