Sweet Smell of Success (1957)
Taut, witty noir about how attempting to ruin other people's lives leads to one's own downfall. Tony Curtis plays a press agent who toadies up to a gossip columnist (Burt Lancaster) looking to prevent his younger sister from marrying a jazz guitarist. It also has David White (Larry Tate from "Bewitched") in a small, sleazy role.
Nice black and white cinematography captures the hip yet gritty Manhattan scenes of jazz halls and newspaper rooms.
