I would hope the mavs consider the heat a main rival. For instance if a trade didnt hurt dallas say a 3 way trade between the mavs the heat and the cavs. The mavs get lebron, The heat get dirk and the and cavs get antoine walker. Obviously this is ridiculous and much worse than this trade but despite the fact that the trade does probably help the mavs, it seriously lowers their chances of winning because there is no way anyone would beat that heat team. No none of those teams would do that deal im just using it as an example.
