I don't know why Dirk would only play 3 more years.
He has no side businesses.
He has no wife or children.
He doesn't play for money.
He loves basketball. He is obsessed with it.
His game is not going to diminish much because his game has never been about athleticism. It's more about his height, the work he puts in and his skill level.
He's never been injury prone.
I think he could be one of those guys who plays until he's 40.
