Oh man...I can't believe I missed out on a conflict with the greatest athlete of all time. Barry Sanders would have crushed Payton's record if he had played all the years he had in him. I agree that he made his linemen look bad at times, but the overall line still sucked and there wasn't hardly ever a hole for him to hit. Granted, he wan't a great reciever or blocker, but the title is running back, which he exelled at. Plus, he never really had to block, not when your quarter back is Scott Mitchel or Stoney Case, odds are he's gonna get the ball. The reason he didn't have as many touchdowns is because the Lions' coaching staff didn't have enough faith in him so they pulled him close to the goal. Sure he had lots of losses, but he averaged over 5 yards a carry for his career, so he had to have made up for those losses somewhere. And, thekid, neither one of your points are argueable...Emmitt did have the greatest line ever, and Barry is the greatest runner ever.
