It's a nice pickup since Lopez will be out for months, but that also means they can't trade for Howard unless they match salaries (are 1M under the cap or so).
Don't know if they can make the playoffs though, seems like they are gambling on next years FA as well. Will be interesting whether Deron chooses to join a proven roster or starts over with the Nets (and Howard possibly, but he might already wear purple and gold at that point).
