FYI, DLord got his hands on the new CBA and has confirmed that the "renegotiate" provision is very poorly characterized. It simply means that when a team is ready to discuss an extension, that extension can start at a much lower salary than it could previously. This lines up with Coon's answer to a question of mine in a Q&A a couple weeks ago.
So no more discussion of Dirk renegotiating his contract. It can't happen.
