There's also one thing re: ratings that Bill Simmons brought up in one of his recent podcasts. He said fans like superteams and that the ratings in the Finals are not necessarily indicative of a league's health. Like even if you top the Finals' ratings each and every year because people want to see LeBron vs. Curry IX, revenue might still be down because literally nobody watches any games before that.

So the trend might show in local markets first where fans don't give a shit following a regular season with a predetermined ending. I think this is a valid argument.
