Default RE:A stoopid trade idea

Big Z would only be around for a few years, but Ricky is only 24, and boy can that sucker score the ball.

Dallas trades:

SG Michael Finley (14.2 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.8 apg in 39.2 minutes)
PF Danny Fortson (2.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 11.2 minutes)

Dallas receives:

C Zydrunas Illgauskas (15.3 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.5 apg in 32.3 minutes)
SF Ricky Davis (15.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 4.7 apg in 36.3 minutes)

Change in team outlook: +13.6 ppg, +2.9 rpg, and +3.4 apg.

Cleveland trades:

C Zydrunas Illgauskas (15.3 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.5 apg in 32.3 minutes)
SF Ricky Davis (15.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 4.7 apg in 36.3 minutes)

Cleveland receives:

SG Michael Finley (14.2 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.8 apg in 12 games)
PF Danny Fortson (2.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 10 games)

Change in team outlook: -13.6 ppg, -2.9 rpg, and -3.4 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

This trade would be a gamble, but Ricky is younger, taller, and more athletic than Finley, and dare I say it, more explosive offensively these days. Big Z would be a short-timer, and considering the stable of big men who will be available through free-agency this Summer, we don't necessarily need him, but I would imagine that if he is healthy, he could provide us with some damned good pivot play in the playoffs for the next couple of seasons...
I think Ricky Davis is as tall as Finley. Ricky Davis is more explosive with his dunks but his jumpshot is suspect. If you are suggesting that Ricky Davis is better than Finley than you are wrong. Finley is greater by about 6 inches. The 6 inches between his ears. Davis is just a nutcase.

Cleveland might welcome the chance to replace the volatile Davis with a great vet with lots of gas left in his tank in Finley, and considering Big Z's inordinately large contract, the Cavs might not mind letting him go, particularly considering the strong improvement in Desagana Diop's play recently. Fortson is a throw in of course, but the way the Cavs shoot the ball, there are a lot of rebounds to go around, and he might actually look pretty good there.

We end up with a possible steal in Ricky, and a possible playoff X factor in Big Z, and the Cavs bring in the kind of great veteran presence that Finley can provide, and they free up their small forward and center position logjams.
Has he gone to the playoffs yet? Still wouldn't do the deal.

I know a lot of y'all don't like Ricky, but he is supremely talented, and whenever I watch him play I can't help but thinking that he could thrive under Nelson. I also know that there have been endless Stoopid trade proposals focussed on Big Z (something that makes me reticent in proposing this), but in my mind Ricky Davis would be the real prize of this proposal, and taking Ilgauskas' salary would be necessary for us to be able to move Finley...
He would thrive under Nelson but he won't coz the Mavs have so many shooting guards. Maybe as a backup to Fin but that ain't happening.
