7-25 & 5-16 when it counted.
when one team decides that they will do anything to stop one player (Heat vs. Dirk), the secondary players must step up.
7-25 & 5-16 in a win or go home game...will always send you home.

Yep. Unfortunatley when Dirk stepped it up the others didn't, and when the others did, he didn't.
There's always next year........

Did Dirk really step up though? He scored some points and shot a decent percentage...but I never got the feeling Dirk was taking over the game after his initial 11-point 1st quarter outburst. At one point I turned to my buddy and said, "Dirk 11, Heat 12." Several minutes later, my comment to him was "The Heat just went on a 19-0 run against Dirk."
To me, Dirk just didn't show up when it mattered. Nor did anyone else, for that matter, other than Quis, and Avery put him back on the bench.

I wouldn't say Dirk "showed up". I'd say Dirk was just Dirk which is hard to gripe about because he's a superstar but in a win or go home setting I think you need more than average Dirk and more of superstar Dirk that played the Spurs in round 2.

You have to give credit to the Heat. They were able to take Dirk out of his game. If only the Mavs had been able to do that against Wade.........

Its hard for dirk to score when he'd doubled AND fouled every posession...be nice if we had guy's who could make an open J to keep the D honest...

if you would go back and watch the game...you would notice that for some odd reason the Heat went away from doubling Dirk in the first quarter...and Dirk Acted quickly before one could come anyway. From the second quarter on, they went back to doubling as soon as he received the ball...this worked all series...as it would on any...ANY seven foot player. The long and short of the series is that The Heat seriously gambled in their defensive gameplan...because they gambled that JT and JHo were not going to beat them...and danged if they were not totally correct.
Talk about Dirk not being agreesive enough...it was certainly true on some plays...but a seven foot player will not be as lightning quick as a guard and cannot consistantly split double teams like AI, Kobe, Labron, Wade, etc.
this series was going to won or lost on the shoulders of JT and JHo. Riley is a genius...and our number 2 and 3 players failed us.

Dirk just didn't impress me, that's all. Your point is well taken though--if Terry hits more than 28% of his shots, or passes some of those to someone else, the outcome may have been different. Or if Josh had shown up at all when it mattered.
