Default This is the first win I will give mavs credit for

Mavs won 20+ games this season but this is the only game they really played well. Mavs players played excellent defense and finley played clutch. Good win mavs. Few points I would like to add and expect some of the brains in d-m.com to add to that-

a). Travis best had a great game although his shooting was off he contributed on the defensive end on andre miller and earl boykins.
b). Michael Finley was great on defense but for a change was clutch in offense.
c). Bradley and forston gave positive contributions in the game Bradley with great blocking and also deviating some shots which may not show up on stat sheet.
d). Dirk carried us for most part of the game.
e). Jamison is a sun of a gun who can just get his shot off more quicker than a defender can realize that Jamison has ball in his hands.

Last but not the least, to win without Nash or Najera is a great one.

The key for Mavs improvement on D is getting Shawn Bradley minutes IMO. Shawn really turned the game around tonight with him intmidation.

I thought Bradley did his Mantis routine this game and flaked out some. But Nellie kept going to him when the situation called for it and it helped. If Nellie can start believing in Bradley and Fortson more, then good things will happen for this team.

I lot of fans say that it doesn't matter if we trade for a big man because Nellie wont play them anyway. I was thrilled with Nellie putting in Fortson to counter Nene and it was very effective. I was thrilled when Nellie put Bradley in, in the right situation where he could contribute tonight.

Pretty solid coaching as far as players in the game at the right time tonight.

A lot of people complain about Nellie not giving certain players enough chances to show something... I personally believe that Nellie isn't a yeller.. or a disciplinarian. That he is a "players coach"... I think Nellie uses the bench as his sole means of disciplining players. Rather than yell at them constantly or play games... if he doesn't think you are giving your all -- and you are a role player -- he is just going to bench you.

But most of the armchair coaches on this board talk pseudo-basketball-ese and make results oriented comments as if they actually have an understanding of the game at the pro level. Most of the comments are based on disappointment from unrealistic expectations or the most ludicrous notion that you sitting in your barc-o-lounger knows more about how to win basketball games than Nelson. Just not gonna happen, boysan.-TwoDeep3

I'd be happy to answer 2 of those MFForever....seeing how I was REALLY unhappy early tonight...and have been unhappy with recent TRENDS :

c). Bradley and forston gave positive contributions in the game Bradley with great blocking and also deviating some shots which may not show up on stat sheet.

--This is one of my biggest issues. After Shawn had a fairly nice last game, I expected that he wouldn't get much PT tonight...that's just Nellie's history. I'm VERY HAPPY to see Shawn get back to back PT. Behind Mad and Evil, I may well be the biggest fan of the good SHOTBLOCKER on this board...I absolutely love how they "deviate" shots (your words)...Guess what, we need one more to pair with Shawn...but I'm encouraged by Shawn's play...and I'm encouraged by the fact that Nellie played him again..but I'm just going to have to keep watching.

e). Jamison is a sun of a gun who can just get his shot off more quicker than a defender can realize that Jamison has ball in his hands.

--Told you so...I told you so...and so did MFFinley...he gives us that odd inside presence that no one else does. I like guys who give us something DIFFERENT than Steve, Fin and Dirk do. We really do have enough jump shooters. MFFinley and I also told everyone about Jiri...but ...that's water under the bridge.

A couple of things of note:

Walker shot 3 3's...that's my blueprint for a start to Mavs success.
The rotation was opened up...I like that...it's GOT TO HAPPEN...or the starters will be DEAD before the playoffs.
Instead of 90% offense and 10% D, we were 70/30...my friend, LRB, has suggeasted Riley, but to me he's the opposite extreme from Nellie...I don't know how to quantify it...but with the players that we HAVE...we've got to play 75-25 or 70-30...to have a chance...

We still need another 5 to pair with Shawn...and Nellie needs to PLAY THEM.

These guys are getting paid mega millions...it's about time, with the halfway mark coming up on us, that we play LIKE WE CARE...for 48 minutes.

I heard that Mamadou guy is pretty good with blocking shots.

Ok...MT...you made a couple of really nice posts tonight...and got props from a bunch of us...

BUT if you're going to go back to copying/reposting 50 line posts and answering them with a couple of words...eating badndwith...

Bend over....Madape is coming.....

think I’m sophisticated
’cos I’m living my life like a good homosapien
But all around me everybody’s multiplying
Till they’re walking round like flies man
So I’m no better than the animals sitting in their cages
In the zoo man
’cos compared to the flowers and the birds and the trees
I am an ape man
I think I’m so educated and I’m so civilized
’cos I’m a strict vegetarian
But with the over-population and inflation and starvation
And the crazy politicians
I don’t feel safe in this world no more
I don’t want to die in a nuclear war
I want to sail away to a distant shore and make like an ape man
I’m an ape man, I’m an ape ape man
I’m an ape man I’m a king kong man I’m ape ape man
I’m an ape man
’cos compared to the sun that sits in the sky
Compared to the clouds as they roll by
Compared to the bugs and the spiders and flies
I am an ape man
In man’s evolution he has created the cities and
The motor traffic rumble, but give me half a chance
And I’d be taking off my clothes and living in the jungle
’cos the only time that I feel at ease
Is swinging up and down in a coconut tree
Oh what a life of luxury to be like an ape man
I’m an ape, I’m an ape ape man, I’m an ape man
I’m a king kong man, I’m a voo-doo man
I’m an ape man
I look out my window, but I can’t see the sky
’cos the air pollution is fogging up my eyes
I want to get out of this city alive
And make like an ape man
Come and love me, be my ape man girl
And we will be so happy in my ape man world
I’m an ape man, I’m an ape ape man, I’m an ape man
I’m a king kong man, I’m a voo-doo man
I’m an ape man
I’ll be your tarzan, you’ll be my jane
I’ll keep you warm and you’ll keep me sane
And we’ll sit in the trees and eat bananas all day
Just like an ape man
I’m an ape man, I’m an ape ape man, I’m an ape man
I’m a king kong man, I’m a voo-doo man
I’m an ape man.
I don’t feel safe in this world no more
I don’t want to die in a nuclear war
I want to sail away to a distant shore
And make like an ape man.

Sorry about that, OP.
