Daryl Macon avoided homelessness - gets 2 way contract
Agent Reggie Brown said the Mavericks gave Macon a two-year, two-way contract...
Though Macon and Brown have great regard for Heat coaches and believed Macon would thrive in the Heat’s system, Macon’s difficult financial predicament complicated matters.
Macon, who faced the potential of being homeless this summer, could end up getting close to $400,000 from Dallas, Brown said.
“As I get older, it’s getting a lot tougher on me,” Macon said of his difficult financial situation, which he said worries him “sometimes.”

That may be a little sensational, but happy for Macon. As I said in another thread, he's a bulldog and will not be short on work ethic. He can shoot the ball and was a pesky defender. Curious how he develops as passer and floor general.
Are we certain he got the last two-way?

Happy that he didn't go homeless, but I hope he actually serves a purpose for the Mavs as well.

Yeah, I'm not sure about that... $400k seems low for a two-way, considering all of our other two-ways were in the $800k range.

Two way salaries are always the same base amount: 75k.
The only variable is how many days a two-way player spends with their NBA affiliate.
While with an NBA team they are all considered to have a prorated 800k salary which is the minimum a rookie can earn in the NBA, but since they can only earn 75k base salary + 45 days of that higher salary, they are hard capped at 280k per year. So yeah, while two-way players are on the Mavs, their salary shows up as 800k because while they are with us they are earning the per-day money of someone earning 800k, they can't actually make more than 280k per season unless they move up to a regular roster spot.
The average two-way player last year earned a little more than 100k and spent only a little more than 5 days with an NBA team. Every single player got a 75K + 800k prorated, though.

We need him because MFFL hates Brunson so we need a third string PG that MFFL likes
But really we absolutely don't NEED him. He's literally our 17th roster spot on a team that can only actually have 13 guys active. He's earning basically nothing and will be lucky to see one actual NBA game.
It's just nice to give a guy a chance. He's 6'3" so he has good height for the PG spot. Shot 42% from three and 88% from FT stripe in college so he at least had a soft touch on his jumper. Had a really good summer league shooting and running plays (averaged 8pts, 8ast, 3reb, 2stl). A lot of those plays he'll see here in Dallas as well (pick and pop to the paint, kicking it out to the corners, etc.). He's worth at least a look for 75k a year if only to get him some sweet PT with the Legends.

Good size, good 3P and FT shooting, supposedly plays decent defense and from that youtube, it looks like he plays within himself by letting the offense develop. Sounds like a nice play to spend minimum money and put a little pressure on Brunson to develop.

We don't need him, but he is a high ceiling role player in today's league if he maxes out his talents, so they gave him a chance.
