I've been really frustrated with Napster latley. Most of the time it blocks out all my requests. Does anyone know a similar mp3 site?

You should give Gnutella a try. Or Aimster.

Thanks for the help. I couldn't get morpheus or gnutella to work. Is gnutella www.gnutella.com? That address is taking me to a silly "Everything is OK" page.

madape- It's usually pretty easy to get by Napster prohibitions by searching for slightly misspelled versions of whatever you're looking for. Foe example, if you want a Weezer song, search for "Wezer", or if you're looking for someone with a space in their name, just leave the space out, e.g. "Ledzeppelin"... 90% of the time I can still find what I'm looking for by inserting typos...

I just installed Morpheus and WHOA!! 364016 users online sharing 33816k files (146628.0GB)!! This reminds me of the old Scour Exchange before it went down. The only probs I've encountered are the slow searches (not to be confused with the lightning fast downloads though) and the inability to show more than 100 search results (well I haven't found a way to change it anyway).
I've downloaded a couple hundred megs worth of mp3s and music vids the last half hour or so. There also seems to be a ton of porn and sick crap on it too. I did a search for a song I was looking for and some of the entries that popped up had filenames like "girlgettingheadshotoff.mpg" or something like that. |

Madape you should try an older beta of Napster (up to 7.0) with Napigator (you get that at napigator.com). That´s a tool that lets you select the server you want to log in. So you can chose an open nap server and don´t have to go with napster.com and their filters. The method of misspelling songs at Napster.com servers doesn´t work anymore. The new filters that come with the 10.3 version scan for the digital structure of songs not titels. Therefore you can name a song 2222222 the filter will detect it as what it really is.
Those peer to peer clients like Morpheus or Gnutella I wouldn´t recommend. They are unstable, slow and often spyware. Also there´s a lot of really sick shit on them. |
