Vegas Summer League Game 5 - Mavs vs Pistons
Game is going on right now, so I'll start the thread for people watching the stream now, and people watching the tape delay later tonight.
I picked it up at the beginning of the second quarter. So far Singleton has looked a lot better.
Someone on LMF said they heard Mark Stein say on ESPN radio the other day that the Mavs were more excited about Singleton than Green, and expected him to work his way into the rotation.
So we might need to start assuming that Singleton is on the team.

He must be awsome in practice then. He has shown me less than Rhodes. Less than Terry too. Even still who is he looking impressive against(in practice)...OH well.

Here is the problem I see with Rhodes: he cannot shoot outside of 5 feet. To me, he is a stronger Pops.
Foster has looked damn good. Like **steal of the draft good**... like **Paul Millsap** good.

That's actually not true. I've seen Rhodes shoot a few turnaround 10 footers and looked good doing it.
I keep going back and forth between Rhodes and Singleton, but it sounds like the decision has been made.

Keep in mind with Singleton there are two season's worth of actual NBA play to evaluate him with.
Maybe the Mavs believe that he's going to regain that explosiveness he had back then. Maybe he's just protecting himself right now.

YEah Bayliss I don't know what you are talking about. He has hit numerous jumpers face up or tunraround J's.

Well it hasn't been in the 3 1/2 games I've watched. He may have in Minny the one I didn't see.
The other problem is it looks like he has no handles. He is already undersized.

6-8 is undersized for PF? And who cares about handles for a PF. I'm confused.

Right, I don't hate him I just don't want to walk away from this situation having made the wrong decision on those two guys. I have seen him hit from range and get NICE rebs and putbacks and then I have seen him look clutsy and uncoordinated too, so I guess I'll have to keep the faith, oh wait Donnie is still around.

6'8" is undersized nowadays if you cannot dribble or have an outside game.
If he could play the 3, then he wouldn't be undersized. But he is strictly a 4. He can't be a 5. So he is going to struggle.

I would characterize 6'8" as slightly undersized for a PF. But you're acting like he literally can't hit a face up jumper. He's shown he can in SL so far. Hell he hit 9/25 college threes his last two seasons. That's not a huge number, but cearly it shows the Pops comparison to be flawed.

Man Foster had a nice game and did a lot of things that would translate to the NBA game.
Terry had a very efficient 8-8 game and also looked solid.
Miles looked better than he has
I dont know what anyone sees in McLeod. His D didnt even look all that sharp altough he was fundamentally sound with it.

Yeah McLeod looks terrible.
Foster and ReTerry look like locks to make the roster to me.

I'm still not impressed with Green even when he puts up stats. His ball handling skills are nowhere near NBA par.

Terry doesn't impress on the stat sheet but watching the games you can see he is just one of those role player types ...
He really reminds me of Shane Battier but more athletic, would you agree that is a fair comparison?

The team grinds to a complete halt when Mcloud comes in the game. Either Miles is really good or Mcloud sucks beyond belief.

Like I said in a previous thread. He reminds me of Byron Russell from the Utah Jazz a few years back. Regardless, he looks like a great roll player type that can be a glue guy and help you win.

There was no reason to ever dislike the Foster pick. For the 51st overall pick, we got the SEC player of the year--a guy who dropped 40+ in a game.
I have no idea if he'll ever contribute anything to the Mavs, but that is as good as you can do with a 51st. That's an A+, in my book.
I am very glad to hear he's playing well, though.

I'd be really surprised if he didn't contribute at some point. He looks like a player.

Yeah foster is good and I think he can contribute. I guess it all depends on what moves we make and how Carlisle runs it all. RHODES continues to impress! That spin on the baseline & jam in the 1st Qtr was NIIICE.
I just started the game up about 15 mins ago..

Peja? He's starting to remind me of him.
