Good win!
Haywood played a big part in it, Dirk did not shoot well but Brewer looked nice!

Knicks scored 74 points from the field.

20-3 but it's really 23-0 in Hollinger's book. Losing by 1 point games = wins.

Amare & Melo were hella mad towards the end. You see Amare just wait for like three seconds before slamming the inbounds pass, then Melo's angry foul on Dirk. NY does not impress me one bit. They'll take a game or two in the playoffs, but no way they make it out of the 1st round (unless maybe they get the Hawks).

I guess everyone will be happy since the Mavs won and Roddy closed out the game.

Co-sign.
I was rather indifferent to his signing, but I think he's played pretty well so far (other than the constant fouling, which he needs to work on).

Yes. This. It makes last night even more confusing.
I loved everything about his game tonight. So much energy, doing all kinds of little things. 7 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in 17 minutes while guarding Carmelo? Yes please.

I don't think that will appease the Roddy fans, as the game was never under 10 points. Moot point.

Amare & Melo combined to shoot 17-42 from the field.
Big bag of NOTHING.

If RC is heart set on bring Matrix off the bench, he should start Brewer. Makes no sense to start Peja at this point.

Where are all the db.com rejects from last night's PGT?

I wasn't able to make it for last night's PGT, but I'm here now!
I think the rest of them all took their cyanide pills to save themselves from the misery of witnessing 3 losses in 21 games.

I think Marion's starting for good. Or at least until we hit a rough patch.
What I wonder is whether Cardinal is playing backup PF because Marion is starting, or because Peja is out.

Honestly though, Peja isn't going to provide much, if any, more rebounding at the 4. I'd like to see Ian get some of those minutes at the 4, but obviously I don't see that happening.

What a nice win for the Mavs.
The usual suspects were great most specially Shawn. He was just great the entire game.
I'd like to give a props to Brewer as well. That kid is full of energy. He hustles a lot, runs the floor well, very active on defense and most importantly, he seems to know his role on this team. In his games with the Mavs, I don't recall a single forced shot that he took. He is a pleasant surprise. I hope Carlisle will give the kid regular minutes. If he continues to play this way, he can really help this team.

I'll join in on the praise for Corey. His energy and activity were indispensable. Just one of a number of guys who really showed up to play tonight, but a standout nonetheless.

This game is the reason why we need Haywood to keep his head out of his ass.

As I said in the GDT, there is no reason whatsoever for Brewer to not get 8+ mpg. That includes the playoffs, unless the starters are lighting it up so much they play almost the entire game, I guess.
We win last night in NO if Rick plays this rotation. I think we win pretty easily, honestly. But that's conjecture.

I don't see how Brewer can get called for that stationary blocking foul on Amar'''''''''''''''''e then get called for a charge against a moving defender, whoever it was.

That was a pretty weak sequence by the refs, there.

We need to give Haywood some love. He's been playing pretty darn well for several weeks. And tonight was the kind of match up where I thought Ian might get a turn. I think it's a testament to how well Haywood has been playing that Rick left Ian on the bench and let Haywood guard Amare.
Now, Amare certainly got his, but Haywood played with energy, he competed defensively, and he continues to show an uncanny deftness around the offensive basket.
Oh, and that blocking call on Brewer was as bad a call as you will ever see. Horrendous.

I thought Roddy played a bit better today, he didn't seem to force much like he has been lately and made a couple of nice passes.

Yep, this too. Roddy played much better within the offense tonight. I'm hesitant to give too much credit though, considering the opposition.

BTW Haywood was our best player today, really big ups for him, probably didn't hurt that NY has no beef down low but still it was good to see

Rebounding was crucial. Those second chance points were important, but the solid showing on the defensive boards allowed us to build that early lead and never look back. We gave some offensive boards up late, but most of the game was very, very solid. All those 50/50 boards we got. The ones that went off someones hand, there was always another Maverick there to grab it. Dirk grabbed some strong boards, and Chandler's 8 in 16 minutes set the tone.
Chandler also set the tone offensively early with his back to back buckets in the post. Its like the Knicks defense was just bewildered after that...they weren't expecting Chandler to be a low post threat. Nice buckets, too. I think he deserves a touch or two in the post.
Terry was fantastic. He's all but the 6th man this year.
Roddy scored pretty well, but his passing was exactly what I expected. 6 assists simply by beating his man and kicking out, nothing fancy. He got a little sloppy on a few, but for the most part, he just made passes to open players. They didn't look fancy, and sometimes seemed a bit out of control, but he's just so fast and so explosive that there was nothing they could do to stop him from getting that first step. He might have got a double double if Dirk's shot was on, because I remember several kicks that led to easy mid range j's for the German that wouldn't fall.
Brewer played with great energy, he looked aggressive, had two very nice blindside steals, and can flat out play d. Encouraged to see some more, though, because while he looked great, so did everyone else. Let's see some more before expecting this nightly.
Kidd's one pass to Haywood lookaway falling out of bounds was just sick.
Great win, and I don't think its a big deal that the lead got pretty small in the 2nd half. Half that fouls that the Knicks got were total bs ticky-tack fouls, and it coincided with a night that they couldn't miss from the strip (95%). There was some bad defense, but there was also some great defense that the officials didn't award, instead just calling the default foul call for when contact occurs.
edit: Yeah, Haywood played very well too. Only 3 defensive boards, but I blame that more to the poor defense while he was on the court (which he had some part in) and that lack of opportunities on the defensive glass than anyhting else.

I agree on Haywood. I'm reluctantly starting to believe he can be a real positive for us in the playoffs given his play as of late. I get the feeling that he's finally begun to really accept his role. Better late than never.
He's shown a few moves on offense that really surprised me. He had a hook shot in the middle of the paint that was a good 8 feet from the basket. That was pretty impressive.

Almost as bad as the Ginobili jump charge (horrible quality and a stupid watermark, uploaded this a while back and never got around to figuring out how to fix it, but you get the picture)...

He's been showing that hook shot. It may have been a little farther out than usual, but he seems to hit one of those every few games the past couple of months. The move I liked was the spin baseline where he hit a baby hook/push shot. That was nice.
