Default Erick Dampier...

This guy can not, and i repeat can not get a ring, especially at our expense.

Already bad enough Antoine Walker celebrating on our court in 06.

Random thought while here wasting time at work.

first of all I would only hate Dampier getting a ring if it is at our expense, he is a good guy (unlike Walker), second Damp was extremely underrated here he did a lot of good even if he did have a bad contract and bad hands.

Sorry. When he was on the floor, it was 4 on 5. His big contract. Stating he was the 2nd best center in the league. So many balls thrown into him that he just dropped and we lose possession.

Can not stand him at all and it was a blessing when he was gone.

This thread is borderline red box worthy. I'm just going to pretend it didn't happen.

I always pulled for ol' Damp... but he was always frustrating too. Seems like a good dude, and at times showed flashes of brilliance, but I don't think he ever had or ever will have the "want to" that our current Mavs have.

I don't think Damp's towel-waiving stands a chance against Mahinmi's towel-waiving...

I don't care if Dampier played for us 7 (?) seasons.

I will throw up if he wins a ring before Dirk does.

I distinctly recall Damp being very, very good in the first couple of games of the '06 series. i don't have any vivid recollections of Damp for games 3-6. In fact I can't seem to access any memories of games 3-6 without some sort of hypnotic regression kinda thing happening.

Yeap...I remember thinking "Wow, if we get this ring, that ridiculous contract of his was totally worth it 'cause he kept Shaq in check." Damp was one of the only guys ever that Shaq could not dominate. That said, if you watch game 6 and the second to last possession where they double Dirk after Damp gives him a screen, you see Dirk give Damp a great lead pass right to the basketball for the go ahead basket, and old hooves couldn't handle it. I liked having Damp on the Mavs, but that play alone...it says it all.

Damp was 6-7 from the field for 14 points in Game 3 in Miami. Yowza.

Shaq wouldn't come to the podium and stormed off before talking to any media in the lockeroom after that game....'cause he's a Nancy and he got his ass handed to him by a guy he really despised.

Ignorance is bliss. He was better than Raef, so I thought he was great. But ignorance is bliss. He set great picks, and I thought that was underrated. But ignorance is bliss.

In short, ignorance is bliss, and no, he hasn't done a thing in this league that deserves a ring.

Why all the Dampier hate? The only good think I can think of if Dallas loses is seeing Dampier get a ring. He is a tough player. Too bad he couldn't be the starter for the Heat. A bigger role would've meant more to him.

There's no hate. It's just that having a real center now, we really see how average to below-average Damp was. I don't even have a problem with him winning a title... as long as that doesn't happen at the expense of the Mavs winning one. Didn't DJ Mbenga win a title with the Lakers? I don't have a problem with that.

Then again, it's been said before, he's the enemy now, so EFF him.

He was quite good in 2006. Yeah he has dropped off a lot since then. Knee problems probably slowed him down. I think 06 Dampier>Haywood of now. Chandler was our best ever center though. His speed took us to the next level.

Dampier haters get no respect or sympathy from me. The guy was a solid player here and an integral part of the most successful years in franchise history (until this one.)

I always liked him and still do.

Benchwarmer gets a ring, who cares.

Wade getting a ring at our expense without first experiencing years and years of coming up short, now that was just wrong. How did that Miami team get to the Finals anyway?

Erick Dampier had a huge body which made us a better rebounding team by himself. Chandler still gets athletic rebounds but the team was obviously a better rebounding team with Dampier.

It doesn't matter either way. It's a bit disheartening watching ex-Mavs win a ring, especially at our expense, but this is sports. I was happy when Finley got one, but I hated that he did it with the Spurs.

Hate on Damp all you want, but the Mavericks haven't yet had another center put together a better Finals series than Big Damp.

If Chandler keeps up his performance from last night, that statement will easily remain in tact.

He won't, but still Damp is a good guy. He gave everything he got for us (even if it wasn't that much) and I appreciate him for it. I rate him up there with NVE and Bradley as one of the good guys who tried hard within their limits, other than Walker.

Molina got a ring from the Giants while wearing the Rangers colors...is that on the same level as Dampier riding the pine polishing the King's toes?
