Default Meeting with marines doesn't go so well for kerry

hugh
An unscripted encounter with some active duty Marines doesn't go very well for John Kerry. Bottom line: This is how the overwhelming number active duty military in this country feel about the Democratic Party and its Michael Moore-loving elites. Clip and save and reread when you hear Kerry-Edwards talking about how they will strengthen the military. The would-be commander-in-chief doesn't have the respect of the men and women he seeks to command. George W. Bush does. So whose judgment do you trust when it comes to which man is better equipped to lead the military and guide the war? The active duty soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines, or John Kerry's band of brothers?

Quote:
uly 31, 2004 -- SCRANTON, Pa. — John Kerry's heavily hyped cross-country bus tour stumbled out of the blocks yesterday, as a group of Marines publicly dissed the Vietnam War hero in the middle of a crowded restaurant.

Kerry was treating running mate Sen. John Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, to a Wendy's lunch in Newburgh, N.Y., for their 27th wedding anniversary — an Edwards family tradition — when the candidate approached four Marines and asked them questions.

The Marines — two in uniform and two off-duty — were polite but curt while chatting with Kerry, answering most of his questions with a "yes, sir" or "no, sir."

But they turned downright nasty after the Massachusetts senator thanked them "for their service" and left.

"He imposed on us and I disagree with him coming over here shaking our hands," one Marine said, adding, "I'm 100 percent against [him]."

A sergeant with 10 years of service under his belt said, "I speak for all of us. We think that we are doing the right thing in Iraq," before saying he is to be deployed there in a few weeks and is "eager" to go and serve.

The Marines — all of whom serve at nearby Stewart Air Force Base — wouldn't give their names.

Okay hows this.

swift boat veterans for truth

Quote:
Senator John Kerry has made his 4-month combat tour in Vietnam the centerpiece of his bid for the Presidency. His campaign jets a handful of veterans around the country, and trots them out at public appearances to sing his praises. John Kerry wants us to believe that these men represent all those he calls his "band of brothers."

But most combat veterans who served with John Kerry in Vietnam see him in a very different light.

Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has been formed to counter the false "war crimes" charges John Kerry repeatedly made against Vietnam veterans who served in our units and elsewhere, and to accurately portray Kerry's brief tour in Vietnam as a junior grade Lieutenant. We speak from personal experience -- our group includes men who served beside Kerry in combat as well as his commanders. Though we come from different backgrounds and hold varying political opinions, we agree on one thing: John Kerry misrepresented his record and ours in Vietnam and therefore exhibits serious flaws in character and lacks the potential to lead.

We regret the need to do this. Most Swift boat veterans would like nothing better than to support one of our own for America's highest office, regardless of whether he was running as a Democrat or a Republican. However, Kerry's phony war crimes charges, his exaggerated claims about his own service in Vietnam, and his deliberate misrepresentation of the nature and effectiveness of Swift boat operations compels us to step forward.

For more than thirty years, most Vietnam veterans kept silent as we were maligned as misfits, addicts, and baby killers. Now that a key creator of that poisonous image is seeking the Presidency we have resolved to end our silence.
Quote:
This photograph of John Kerry and 19 other Coastal Division 11 Swift boat officers was taken at Ton Sun Nuht Air Base on January 22, 1969, immediately following a meeting with General Abrams and Admiral Zumwalt.

The Kerry campaign featured the photograph in an advertisement released in May titled Lifetime. Swift Boat Veterans for Truth contacted surviving members of this group to find out how many actually support John Kerry, and discovered that of 19 Swift boat skippers pictured other than Kerry, 11 consider him unfit, 4 are neutral, two have died, and 2 are working with the Kerry campaign. Four other officers were not present for the photo session; all oppose Kerry.

Only 2 of John Kerry's 23 fellow Swift boat commanders from Coastal Division 11 support his candidacy today.

Kerry is a tool. When the men who serve with you slam you, those who are your brothers in arms, it tells me all I need to know about Fairy Kerry.

The man has as much business being President as reeds does. Unless we are talking about the presidency for some retarded-no-original-thoughts-ever-in-their-life-flip-flop organization.

Above is what reeds posted. Asked the question if this the best someone could do. Of course then he's shown something a lot more telling and what is the next response?

What is the point in trying to actually discuss something with you reeds? But it IS a little bit more than "4 freaking marines" isn't?

Yes I would imagine that all pacifist veterans would be supporting kerry.

At the Veterans for Peace annual convention this weekend in San Francisco, the most pressing issue was not veterans’ affairs or government benefits or even homeless veterans, although these and more subjects were discussed. What fired up these aging veterans was the threat to our civil rights, and even more, the continuing war in Iraq. Veterans For Peace is not your traditional veterans’ group.

The largest antiwar veterans group in the United States, Veterans For Peace has 103 chapters from Maine to California to Florida. With the war in Iraq, membership has grown substantially. The New Mexico chapter had 11 members when it formed last year, this year it has 130. Overall membership has climbed to more than 3,500, doubling in a single year.

Was the real lunch choice Wendy’s or fine dine

What was being served inside the bus?
While Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry and his running mate, John Edwards, and their families were having a “lite” lunch at Wendy’s in the Town of Newburgh Friday, drumming up local support right after the national convention in Boston, their real lunches were waiting on their bus.

A member of the Kerry advance team called Nikola’s Restaurant at the Newburgh Yacht Club the night before and ordered 19 five-star lunches to go that would be picked up at noon Friday. Management at the restaurant, which is operated by CIA graduate chef Michael Dederick, was told the meals would be for the Kerry and Edwards families and actor Ben Affleck who was with them on the tour.

The gourmet meals to go included shrimp vindallo, grilled diver sea scallops, prosciutto, wrapped stuffed chicken, and steak salad. The meals came to about $200.

The entourage had also expected to stop at the Alexis Diner at Route 9W and North Plank Road in the Town of Newburgh. In fact, the Kerry advance team had ordered 125 lunches for the team and supporters. Their buses drove right by the diner on I-84 and proceeded straight to Wendy’s.

Kerry may still have the vote of Wendy’s manager John Garrett. “I’m for anyone who comes in and likes double cheeses”, Garrett said. “I’m a big supporter of anyone who orders our food.”

I heard on CNN that Edwards and his wife have a tradition of eating at Wendy's on their anniversary. Appraently they could only afford Wendy's back on their first anniversary and they have reportedly continued the tradition ever since.

For what it is worth.....

Letter to the NYPost..

Quote:
John Kerry and John Edwards stage a photo-op at Wendy's, when in reality they're about to enjoy a gourmet meal in private.

There is no outcry from their supporters.

But when President Bush spends his Thanksgiving Day traveling to Iraq, in order to thank the American troops and give them a day they will never forget, all the Democrats can do is complain that the president posed with a partially cooked turkey.
