Default Nash wants 4 more years

http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/127515
Quote:
Suns notebook: Nash not planning on retiring soon

Jerry Brown, Tribune

Grant Hill celebrated his 36th birthday with the final two-a-day workout of training camp that included a public scrimmage Sunday night at US Airways Center.

Meanwhile, Steve Nash is just four months away from turning 35. But the two-time MVP has no plans to hang up his sneakers in the near future.

Nash, who has an all-but-guaranteed team option for next season, said he knows he wants to play two more seasons beyond that contract — which would take him through the 2011-12 season and his 38th birthday — and he might play longer if he still feels healthy and passionate about the game.

“I know I want to play four more years. That’s my goal, to sign another two-year contract. After that, I’ll evaluate where I am and how I feel,” Nash said. “I know I feel great right now and I think I have a lot left.”

Nash said the Suns haven’t come to him to talk about any contract extension, which is understandable since they haven’t officially exercised the option for next season. But $7.5 million of the $13.125 million he is due is already guaranteed whether he plays or not, so barring any serious injury, that figures to be a slam dunk.

Nash said his preference would be to continue and even complete his career in Phoenix. “My number one priority would be to stay here, but I’ll think more about that when the time comes.”
Good to hear. I think this guy is going to be a pleasure to watch late into his 30s, even if he does lose a step or two. Hope he might consider a farewell tour in dallas.

Kidd and Nash on the floor at the same time wouldn't make much sense...

nash would get destroyed in that lineup. any shooting guard on the opposing team would have his way with nash.

If Nash can stick around for four, I hope Kidd, who is one year his senior, can compete for three.

Not that I would support that lineup, but if it did happen Kidd would certainly defend the opposing shooting guard.

I remembering predicting back in the summer of '04 that the present contract wouldn't be the last one he'd sign.

I was kidding..but that would be fun to watch...if we added more high fliers...nash/kidd throwing a bunch of lobs into the air...

and with the amount of court vision on the floor...we could probably see through the cheerleaders' outfits.

We need to wait for couple mpre years and make sure Nash is completely washed up and we can offer some more draft picks to get him.

I would totally take Nash back on the Mavs.

Then you could sub Kidd and Bass for Dirk and Nash. Wow.

I'm becoming increasingly positive that horse is Steven A. Smith.

Just something about him reeks of Smiths analytical skills.

It would be great if Dirk also wants to play a little bit longer... Yeah, I know he stated two weeks (?) ago that he does not want to play in the NBA if he cannot contribute good stats anymore. Well, hopefully he will continue to play in Dallas until he's 35. His current contract lasts until 2011 (he will 33 then) but I am sure that he has still at least two more good years in the tank. Look at Kidd, Nash and others. They are still playing on a good level. KG for instance is already 32. Duncan as well.
