Official GDT: Mavs @ Hawks - 03/19/09 - 6:00pm CST
Because no one did it yet or no one had the stones to make it, haha.
I'm not scared.
Atlanta is on a good win streak so this might be one of those times where Dallas shows it's brighter side and show you the potential they have by beating a streaking team. The odds are stacked against them somewhat with Atlanta clearly being a better home team and Dallas being a crappy road team.
As I mentioned in the recap for Detroit, starting Barea really doesn't make sense. They should give Singleton the start and I think that'll create more of a balance on defense.
I'll be interested to see if Smith can contain Dirk tonight. He's got the speed and athleticism that could give Dirk problems but Dirk has the craftiness to still hold the edge over him.
Go Mavs!

Barea surely isn't starting vs Atl. I believe you will get your wish with Singleton in the SL. I get the feeling there will be tons of jumpshots from Dirk tonight.
Lets do this Mavs.

Jump shots are what he's good at, why wouldn't he do that?
I hate early starts.

I just know it's not going to make Barea's chances at defending any better if he starts. He would HAVE to take Bibby and that would cause everyone else to shift over and it would more than likely create a mismatch along the way.

To win this one, he needs to take plenty of shots. Smith has a great chance to erase anything that isn't a jumper.

^^first post is a "we are going to lose"?^^
Im no bball genius but c'mon!
This board is drawing in emos like a black hair dye manufacturing tour.
This one will be difficult but Atlanta is ripe for a letdown to end their home stand.

Hard game. Hawks are really good at home and just burned Suns, Jazz and Hornets in their last few games.
I hope Carlisle goes bigger with Singleton in the S5 to get more damn rebounds. Unfortunatable i also expect to get either smashed by Smith with 3-4 Alleys or from JJ and Bibby from Threepoint after bad defense rotation
Horford 20-10 and freaking Zaza from the bench with 8-8.

Nothing different then the laker game where Kidd was matched up with Ariza. Kidd will get Mo Evans tonight if Barea's getting the nod.

Just because it's not any different doesn't mean that it is still right. ![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
Even if Bibby is a catch and shoot guy, sitting behind the arc I still don't trust or expect Barea to be able to handle that responsibility. We know that's not all Bibby will do so Barea will get exposed in that aspect...no matter who he is defending. I'd rather minimize that by having him come off the bench.
Atlanta has 4 guys who can basically throw up 20-25 on you nightly...so the bench is an issue for them. The issue for us is we desperately need Dirk and Jet to be on tonight, on top of that we REALLY need 2 guys to step up and bring us some major scoring.

Nothing personally, but I'm happy about the starting time, really. ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Finally a game which starts at 1 am and not at 4.30 am like against GSW lately.
Well, unfortunately it will change again next week due to the upcoming change for CEST and EEST, which means again 1 hour more of difference

Remember when the Hawks sucked? Yeah, that's not the case anymore. But still a very winnable game.

Let's go out there, hit some jump shots and play some defense.
We can win it. We MUST win it.

Sort of how Kidd went to NJ basically becoming the glue there. Now ATL grabs Bibby, he becomes the veteran glue guy for a bunch of athletic basketball players.

This will be a tough game to win. Atlanta plays well at home and they're on a nice 6 game streak. Hope the Mavs can play tough and win tonight!
Go Mavs!

Ortegal was talking about how Dirk was better when he shot the ball immediately on the catch instead of waiting. That made his step back shot better, and his drive quicker.
Been saying that for a long time. Dirk waits too long sometimes. He needs to GO(!) when he has the ball and not give the defense the time to bring the double.
