What's the over/under on Kobe's FGA tonight?
I actually am a little worried though. I hope we take them seriously, come out hitting and put it away in the 3rd. It would be nice to blow them out and give our starters some rest before tomorrow's over-hyped game in Houston. Isn't their defense ranked last in efficiency? If so, it's hard to imagine a scenario in which we lose, unless we just play terrible. We really need to attack the basket and not rely on jump shots as much.
Also any word on Dirk and Devin?

I calling it at 27 FGA
the game o/u is at 218 with Mavs favored by +9.5

This and then drive&dish. Their entire D is horrible, so there should be plenty of open threes and lobs available if we play it right
Considering the b2b tomorrow in Houston i think they will come out hard, trying to have this game done after three quarter.

27 sounds like a safe bet. I actually think he'll go for a subtle 9-24 from the field.

This is the type of game that Crowder should get a lot of burn.
Hopefully he'll flourish defensively against Kobe.
Aminu should get good PT as well. Starting Crowder or Aminu in this game in place of Nelson wouldn't be a bad idea imo.

Am I the only one a little worried about this game? LAL is playing okay since Nick Young came back and it's a classic trap game when we have Houston tomorrow. I don't think this is going to be a cakewalk like some are making it out to be.

I'm with you on this one and that is why I think Aminu or Crowder should be on Kobe every minute he plays from the start.
I think the only way Lakers beat us is if Kobe gets in a zone and goes off for 40+ which is a possibility if guys like Ellis or Parsons is guarding him.

Kobe going off on us would not be a surprise. Agreed on giving Kobe a large dose of Aminu and Crowder.

question:
If we could only win one game of this B2B, which would you rather win?
Beat the lowly Lakers and lose the the Rockets or Lose to Kobe and win against the Rockets?

haven't had the chance to watch Aminu much... how's his foot speed/quicks? He's been touted as a semi-replacement for Marion... big shoes to fill. Marion has been able to effectively guard anywhere from the 1 to 4 including chasing tony parker around. Seems like he'd be able to keep up with Kobe but wondering if he's got the quicks to guard pg's in the NBA.

I'd rather win both... Can't lose against bad teams, can't lose against a division rival.

I think losing to LAL would be a worse loss so I'd rather protect the home floor. Honestly, I think I'd probably rest Dirk against Houston. He already sprained his ankle so I don't see any need to run him out there on a back-to-back.
I thought going in to this 2nd 10-game stretch that 6-4 would be fine. Starting it 3-1 is pretty dang good.

Kobe scores 34, but...
Mavs - 114
Leakers - 94
Bonus: Crowder's hairdo beats Hill's hairdo.

Shawn, when he was younger, had uncommonly good reflexes, even relative to other world class athletes, and that's something I don't think Aminu can match. What Aminu does have is length, and while that will allow him to recover against speed when other players can't, I don't see him as a guy you want to put on PGs or fast SGs. I also think he probably needs more experience before he can really be considered a go-to defender even against bigger SFs or rangey PFs. His calling card is still that of an energy guy who can just come out and make plays and generally affect the game in positive ways. In that respect he's a lot like Brewer. Jae's still the team's best perimeter defender, for my money.

Harris out:
Quote:
DALLAS – Mavericks guard Devin Harris will miss his second consecutive game Friday night against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Mavs are being mysteriously elusive about details of Harris' lower right leg injury.
Harris declined to speak to the media after the Mavs’ shootaround, saying he had been told not to say anything and deferring questions to coach Rick Carlisle.
“He’s doing a little bit better,” Carlisle said. “We’ll have an announcement probably later in the day.”
About a half hour later, Carlisle sent reporters a text message saying Harris was out against the Lakers.
Carlisle declined to answer any follow-up questions about Harris, including how much the veteran guard participated in the shootaround.
Harris, who is averaging 8.6 points and 4.4 assists per game, did not play in the second half of Monday’s win over the Charlotte Hornets and sat out Wednesday’s win over the Washington Wizards. He said during the road trip that his leg had been bothering him for about a week before the decision was made for him to rest.

Trap game for sure. Last year's Mavs were experts at blowing winnable games. We have not seen much of that trait in this squad, so lets not start now.
No Devin means more JJB. The sight of him in a Mavs uniform has to send shivers up the spine of all Laker fans. Lets give 'em something to crap their pants about. Again.

What's stronger? Crawford's ridiculous preferential treatment of home teams or his hate for the Mavs. We'll see tonight.
