Shareef-Abdur-Rahim to the MAVERICKS????

Still, don't expect Ratliff to retain his Atlanta address much longer. Playoff teams with title aspirations (the Mavericks, to name one) are making their pitch for him and Shareef Abdur-Rahim without regard ($10.1M/$10.9M . . . $13.5M/$14.6M, respectively) for their contracts. If younger talent and cap relief is available, look for a deal or two to get done.

Ratliff might end up here, but don't see how Rahim would.

RE:Shareef-Abdur-Rahim to the MAVERICKS????
I don't understand the intrest in Shareef, however this article is from the nypost. Maybe a three team deal? If Atlanta is looking to move Theo, Shareef, and Jason Terry as well as getting some salary cap relief then maybe something like this would work.
Dallas trades: PF Antoine Walker (17.1 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 4.9 apg in 37.5 minutes)
SF Antawn Jamison (15.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.1 apg in 29.8 minutes)
PG Tony Delk (6.7 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 0.9 apg in 17.7 minutes)
PG Travis Best (3.3 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 2.1 apg in 14.1 minutes)
Dallas receives: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (20.2 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 2.6 apg in 36.5 minutes)
C Theo Ratliff (7.7 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 0.9 apg in 30.2 minutes)
PG Jason Terry (17.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 5.1 apg in 36.5 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +3.4 ppg, +0.8 rpg, and -0.4 apg.
Portland trades: SF Rasheed Wallace (16.8 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 3.1 apg in 39.8 minutes)
Portland receives: SF Antawn Jamison (15.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.1 apg in 26 games)
PG Tony Delk (6.7 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 0.9 apg in 21 games)
PG Travis Best (3.3 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 2.1 apg in 24 games)
Change in team outlook: +8.4 ppg, +3.2 rpg, and +1.0 apg.
Atlanta trades: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (20.2 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 2.6 apg in 36.5 minutes)
C Theo Ratliff (7.7 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 0.9 apg in 30.2 minutes)
PG Jason Terry (17.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 5.1 apg in 36.5 minutes)
Atlanta receives: PF Antoine Walker (17.1 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 4.9 apg in 26 games)
SF Rasheed Wallace (16.8 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 3.1 apg in 24 games)
Change in team outlook: -11.8 ppg, -4.0 rpg, and -0.6 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED
It's alot to give up, but it does fill some needs and wants for each team.

RE:Shareef-Abdur-Rahim to the MAVERICKS????
Shareef is a great player, he rebounds, scores, inside too, play's good d, shoots over 50%, yeah, why would we want him? If it were just a year thing, id take him over walker.

Playing good defense has never been a description I've seen associated with Shareef. Still, the reason I don't think he'd come here is that I don't think Atlanta would take what we offer for him.
Speedy, your proposed deal looks almost exactly like the Atlanta deal I suggested the other day, only adding Walker and Abdur-Rahim.
I suppose I'd do this Atlanta deal.

That seems like a pretty realistic trade Speedy. I thought it was strange that Donnie played all the backup gaurds last night. Especially after Best was supposedly out of the rotation.

kg, your trade was the first thing to come to mind when I read this topic. I like your trade better, but I thought you would have to add more salaries to make it work since Terry is a BYC player. That is why I posted that trade. However, when I checked your trade it worked. So I apologize if my post came across as if I just thought it up. I didn't intend for it to be that way.

So in other words, Cuban is made to look like a MORON for doing those two deals(Walker,Jamison) should this trade occur......
Sorry....Cubes is very stubborn. He will not want to part with one of them, much less BOTH of them just to show that he made two "TRADE" mistakes. It makes him look bad...You know?
Fearless Prediction :
There WILL be a Trade but it will be for Melvin Ely in exchange for Travis Best.

What's his source? How does he know the Mavs are making a pitch? Oops, just read the article. Its from Vescey. Now I know it isn't happening.

RE: Shareef-Abdur-Rahim to the MAVERICKS????
I like to say this once in a while: STUPID TRADE!!!
Why add offense with offense. We need a better bench, better ball movement and better body movement. The mavs, I believe are underachieving under Coach Nelson.
Cubes is another problem: the guy is too dam rich and does not know how the NBA system works. I can't believe he's giving into Nash. How many bad contracts do we have? Oh well, not my money LOL...
