Default Minny loses to Philly w/o AI

Guards Aaron McKie, Eric Snow and Willie Green had solid games as the shorthanded 76ers made all the plays down the stretch in a surprising 81-74 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Playing without top scorers Allen Iverson and Glenn Robinson for the second straight game, the 76ers snapped a four-game losing streak by holding the Timberwolves to one basket in the final 4 1/2 minutes.

McKie scored 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting, his best game since scoring 24 vs. Boston on December 21. Snow had 13 points and seven assists and Green, a rookie, contributed 10 points off the bench.

The Sixers were clinging to a 73-72 lead and forced a turnover. Snow dribbled into the frontcourt and threaded a perfect long bounce pass between defenders to rookie Kyle Korver, who scooped in a layup with 1:31 remaining.

On the next possession, Korver found Samuel Dalembert for a dunk and a 77-72 lead with a minute to go. Sam Cassell made a jumper, but Snow answered with a 15-footer that sealed it with 20 seconds left.

Kenny Thomas had 11 points and 12 rebounds and Korver scored 10 points for the Sixers, who did a great job of limiting Kevin Garnett's touches down the stretch.

Garnett had 27 points, 13 rebounds and five assists but did not score after making three straight baskets for Minnesota midway through the final period. The Timberwolves had won three in a row and eight of nine.

Thank You Philadelphia! Thanks for bringing the Mavs a little closer
