Default Since the All Star Break....

Some stats since the All Star Break...as the Mavs go 4-1. With 3 games over 110 points..and 4 games allowing less than 100....

Mavs are averaging .............106.8 points.
Opponents are averaging......95.4 points.
For a margin of ......................11.4 points.

Is this better offense...or better defense...or BOTH ?

Here are some individual numbers...

Dirk.....37.4 min....21.2 pts....44%..33.3% on 3's....96.2 FT%....9.2 reb...3.4 ast....2 blk........1.4 stl.
Fin......37 min.......21.4 pts....48%...52.0% on 3's...83.3 FT%....4.2 reb....2.0 ast... .04 blk......0.8 stl.
Nash...31.2 min...13.0 pts.....54%..46.1% on 3's...100 FT%......3.4 reb....9.2 ast.. .02 blk..... 0.8 stl.
#8.......30.8 min...13.2 pts....39%...25% on 3's......81.8 FT%.....8.0 reb....4.2 ast...1.2 blk.....1.2 stl.
J Ho.....28.2 min...10.0 pts....42%...33.3% on 3's...75.0 FT%.....6.4 reb....1.2 ast...1.2 blk..... 0.2 stl.
Tawn...27.2 min...10.0 pts....42%... 0% on 3's.......50 FT%........7.0 reb....0.8 ast..... 0 blk......0.2 stl.

Now for those who haven't played in every game:

Scott....16.0 min....8 pts........58%....(no 3's)..........100 FT%......4.7 reb.....0 ast..... 0.7 blk.... 0.3 stl.
Eddie...13.0 min....3 pts........50%....(no 3's)..........100 FT%......3.2 reb... 1.0 ast.....0 blk...... 0.4 stl.
Danny..15.5 min....7.5 pts.....45%....(no 3's)..........100 FT%......3.5 reb.... .5 ast... 0.5 blk.....0.5 stl.
Shawn.. 9.5 min... 3.0 pts.....80%.....(no 3's) ........ 66.6 FT%....2.8 reb..... .5 ast....1.0 blk.....0.5 stl.
Daniels...8.0 min....6.0 pts....56%.....(no 3's)..........(no FT)........0.3 reb.....1.0 ast.....0 blk......0.7 stl.

Delk and Best are omitted because of injuries.

So who's been shooting the best among the top players (in terms of minutes) ?
1) Nash
2) Fin
3) Dirk
Who's HOT from 3 ?
1) Fin
2) Nash
3) Dirk and J Ho
Best free throw shooters ?
1) Nash
2) Dirk
3) Fin

Let's go to a per minute breakdown, ok....

Most points per minute:
1) MarquisD
2) Fin
3) Dirk
4) Scottie
5) Fortson

Most rebounds per minute:
1) Shawn
2) Scottie
3) #8
4) Jamison
5) Eddie

It looks like the Big 3, to me...with some nice stuff from Scottie. And a bit more from the others in the 3 headed center...We could use more from Jamison...

OP

Great stats. However I think that Toine/Twan have been much better since the trade deadline. After a few more games this should show to be more prominant(sp?) in the stats.

The Defense has been much better with the exception of the first game back in Memphis and the first 6-7 minutes against Houston.
The offense seems to be gelling better as well. We have so many more scoring options than we had last year. Last season if the jumpers went south then we were pretty dead in the water...now we get on the offensive boards and get extra opportunities.

Thanks Mike B:

Here are some more stats, since the trade deadline:

Dirk........37.3 min...22.3 pts..46%...46% from 3....92% FT...9.0 reb...4.1 asts..2.3 blk...3.25 ast/TO.
Fin.........36.3 min....23 pts.....52%...59% from 3...81% FT...3.3 reb...2.3 asts.. 0.6 blk...8.8 ast/TO
Nash.....29.6 min....12.3 pts..55%...57% from 3...100% FT..2.3 reb...8.6 asts...0.3 blk...2.36 ast/TO
#8.........30.6 min....16.3 pts..52%...33% from 3....89% FT...7 reb.....3.6..asts...0 blk......1.22 ast/TO.
AJ..........27.6 min.....9.3 pts...38%....0 from 3........50% FT...8.6 reb...1 asst......0 blk.......1.0 ast/TO.
J Ho.......30.6 min.....10 pts....43%....33.3 from 3...75% FT...6.6 reb...1.3 ast....0.6 blk.....1.0 ast/TO.

Looks like Fin and Dirk are going nuts, along with Nash. Walker's shooting is getting better...while his assists to turnovers are falling. Jamison still in a short slump...is it the ankle ? JHo not shooting well but doing other things.

I'd like to tie this to "trade rumors" but ...I'm guessing that Fin is the "most relieved" if you buy that theory... Except Fin's been playing great since well before the trade deadline. It remains to be seen whether Toine's reemergence as a contributor will last, but the last few games he has definitely looked more comfortable to me.

Although his rebounds are down, I like the looks of his 3pt % a lot more now and 52% from the field is awesome. Both percentages seem amazing to be coming from him.

great stats OP....Fin has been out of his mind, Dirk has been more than solid, and Nash's dimes are higher than ever, but I really like what #8 has been doing the last couple games....plus *gulp*, hes hitting those freethrows.....

what is wrong with Jamison????
27.2 min...10.0 pts....42%... 0% on 3's.......50 FT%........7.0 reb....0.8 ast..... 0 blk......0.2 stl.
where is the guy who was getting 16-17 a game?? I miss that guy...the last few weeks he has looked like a different player....

I thought AJ looked better last night than I'd seen in a while, even if his stat line didn't stand out. Hopefully that's a sign that he's getting back in form. And even without the scoring you've got to love his rebounding per minute.

good point c, I have liked the way he always seems to be in the middle of the scramble for the lose ball...he aint no defender, but the man has quick hands....I want to see him come through in a big game just to shut up the haters who say that he disapears when you really need him....

that leaves 48 for eveyone else:

Well here's some more for you, Compagre !

This is just our forwards...and I'm giving them all Dirk's minutes (37.4).

Dirk ....21.2 points and ....9.2 boards
#8......16.02 points and ..9.7 boards
JHo.....13.26 points and ..8.5 boards
AJ.......13.75 points and ..9.6 boards.

These statst tell me two things:

Jho is really a great find.
And the rebounding is SO MUCH better with 3 new forwards this year.

Put these stats in the Gameday thread, but thought I'd stick them here too...

Anatomy of a 5 game win streak...

Here's how the Mavs have performed defensively and on the boards...

Cleveland - 39-84, 8 blks, 9 steals, +13 on the glass
Houston - 35-82, 3 blks, 7 steals, +5 on the glass
LAC - 30-72, 8 blks, 3 steals, +14 on the glass
San Antonio - 36-84, 5 blks, 7 steals, +5 on the glass
Portland - 32-80, 11 blks, 4 steals, +4 on the glass

Combined FG% against: .428
Team bpg: 7.0
Team spg: 6.0
boards: +8.2/game

PubaNWO is on a distinguished road
Default RE: Since the All Star Break....

Not trying to insult Jamison or anything, but he really is the kind of player to "lead" the team so he's probably content coming of the bench just to contribute. He stated time and time agani that he's thrilled just to be thinking about playing in the playoffs since he's never been there before. I think he'll bounce back with some better games but he's not going to score or rebound in great numbers a lot at all. His shooting is going down because he's just not as aggressive now as he was earlier on.

He sees the Big 3 playing very well and just wants to sit back and enjoy the show.....

Can you blame him, Puba?

If I saw that 3 of the starters scored 20+ in a game, I'd kick back, grab a beer, and enjoy the game too!

Oh and Where's the Credit for Walker, Puba? You can praise Walker a little, you know?

I've noticed something over the past several games that has encouraged me. When Dirk's been matched up against a shooting guard or PG on the perimeter, he appears to be doing a much better job of staying in front of them. Plus, his blocks are up.

Hell, last night, he was as effective as anyone at staying in front of Murray.
