Baby bulls sign Malik Allen, pursue restricted songaila
Bulls Agree To Terms With Malik Allen, Songaila Next?
23rd August, 2005 - 11:52 pm
Chicago Tribune - Free agent Malik Allen has agreed to terms of a multiyear contract with the Bulls, general manager John Paxson said Tuesday.
All summer Paxson has talked about "shoring up the front line," and Allen, 27, should do that. The 6-foot-10-inch power forward played 31/2 seasons with Miami before being traded to Charlotte last winter. He averaged 5.4 points per game last season.
The Bulls are also pursuing restricted free agent Darius Songaila of the Kings, agent Mark Bartelstein said Tuesday.
"They're very interested," Bartelstein said. "But it's complicated because he's a restricted free agent."

Wow, what a trade for the pistons!!!!!! Chandler's 22 and almost got 10 boards per game plus defense last year. Wow.!!!!
Why don't we trade Damp for Chandler..................Maybe chicago just doesnt want to pay 75 million, Damp's cheap comparatively!!!!!
Chandler has soooooooo much more upside................And Chicago is throwing in Andres Nocioni, a promising young 2nd year forward??????? Chicago is giving away the store in my opinion, ..................................Wow, hope donnie's still workin' the phones........

John Paxson would have to be smoking some good herb to make that kind of a deal.
Weed *still* has the potential to be the best player in the league, but he wants to be "one of the guys" and plays like a puss every year.
Nocioni will blossom into an Artest type player...Chandler is a rebounding and shot blocking force who needs more minutes to develop on offense. Why would Paxson do the deal? Sometimes you just wonder if websites pull these rumors out of their ass because there's nothing to report.

So very very true.

Sounds like the Bulls are trying to match up with Pistons by stocking up on tough bigs.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Chandler is close to signing a 6 year 64 million dollar deal with the Bulls.

Songaila acquired by the Bulls for 2.2million which is a bargain for a 7.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and shot 52.7 percent guy.
Looks bad for the Kings too. He's a solid backup player and the Kings didn't sign him because Shareef failed his physical in New Jersey which allowed the Kings to sign him.

Trade Damp for Chandler? I bet Chicago is just foaming at the mouth to get their hands on Erick Dampier. Yeah, and while we're at it, let's trade Doug Christie for Dwayne Wade...

RE:Baby bulls sign Malik Allen, pursue restricted songaila
It WOULD"VE been a big loss for the kings, bu now with Shareef and Kenny Thomas Songaila would definately been 3rd pf on the depth chart, and there is no way he can play any other position. Hell Corlis Williamson plays more like a PF than a SF, so Darius might have even been the 4th pf.
He would have laguished on the bench in Sac this year if he stayed, at most 5 minutes a game. At most.
