So do you think we can get Jamal Magloire?
I'm really hoping we'll be able to get him..Maybe he'll want to continue playing with JKidd...

Now, as you started a new thread about it, our chances will be better than ever.

Magliore has only been in the league 8 years... I'm convinced this waiving of Magliore is part of the Kidd deal...

Magloire one time got blocked by the rim because he couldn't jump high enough to dunk it. (And there was no one on him; he had plenty of time to set up for the dunk.)

I think we absolutely need somebody. Magloire's not my favorite choice but he may be the only choice now.
I've read we're one of four teams in the running to get Brent Barry though. He's said to be pissed that the Spurs traded him and he may not return to them. He's also said to want to stay somewhat in the area so Houston or us may be the most likely teams. But we can't have him and Maglorie can we we don't have enough roster spots?

Roster spots are not the problem, mle is.
I've thought that the barry going back to San Antonio was not the slam dunk others have made it. If a team attempts to trade you every year, then where exactly is that loyalty to that team.
It appears he was not in the clique.

Obviously: Magloire to Dallas

Can you see this one coming from a mile away?
When the Dallas Mavericks and New Jersey Nets were locked in what was a several-week discussion about how to get Jason Kidd in a Mavericks uniform it seemed like a no-brainer for Jamaal Magloire to be included in the deal. The former All-Star has never really played any meaningful role for the Nets after being a solid double-double guy for both Portland and Milwaukee. You can't help but wonder if . . .in the right situation . . .he might be a double-double guy again. But, alas, the only big man sent over from New Jersey was Malik Allen, who has never been close to being a double-double player.
When Mark Cuban and Donnie Nelson were talking about their acquisition of Kidd they made it clear that they aren't finished dealing. They have a mid-level exception they can use on a free agent or two and they have two open roster spots. The first name that came to mind was PJ Brown, the free agent whose name has been linked to Dallas a number of times over the last six months. Now the Mavericks have a roster spot, playing time, a title shot and money to offer him. Unfortunately, the New Orleans Hornets have all of those things to offer, too, and PJ knows the Hornets better.
Which brings us to Magloire.
The Nets cut Magloire today and you can bet he won't be sitting around for long. In fact, it would be a surprise if he didn't wind up in Dallas.
The Mavericks are dangerously thin at the center position, with just the oft-injured Erick Dampier standing between them and a daunting Western Conference that now features Shaquille O'Neal in addition to Yao Ming, Tim Duncan, Amare Stoudemire, and Tyson Chandler. The Mavs will most certainly address this need in the next few days, and it seems there might be one more player from New Jersey escaping to the warmer climate of Dallas.

Out of all the free agents.. I want Magloire the most. He could have the potential to be a double double guy again, he didnt get much playing time in Jersey and the team he was with before that he was an All-Star with (a couple years ago). ...
And Barry would be good with us, but we need a center more than anything. Then a better back up point guard. Preferably a young one.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Mavericks' big-man search will come to a conclusion soon.
Owner Mark Cuban said before Friday's game he expects to sign two big men to fill out the 15-man roster, which was left shy of inside players when center DeSagana Diop was included in the trade to New Jersey for Jason Kidd.
Some obvious names might be on the Mavericks' radar.

Jamaal Magloire was waived Friday by the Nets, and if he clears waivers he could be No. 1 on the Mavericks' list. The 6-11 center, in his eighth season, averaged 1.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 24 games for the Nets. However, as recently as 2005-06, he started all 82 games for Milwaukee and averaged 9.2 points and 9.5 rebounds.
Others on the watch list include Justin Williams (waived by Sacramento) and Viktor Khryapa (waived by Chicago). Cuban said the team is hoping not to have to dip into the Development League to find replacements.

All this stuff about Magliore supposedly being part of the Kidd deal makes me worried there's another Stackhouse snafu in the works...

Magloire and Flip Murray are available to be signed at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday. Brent Barry becomes a free agent Tuesday morning.

lol....As funny as this is...you have to give 'dude' a pass. He is exempt from all unwritten forum rules.
And I like the conspiracy theory that the mavs and nets worked it out this way....of course you'd think something would've happened by now if this were the case.

He may end up doing that but he's said to be pissed that they traded him and could go to another team in the same proximity which would put us and the Rockets as prime candidates. His brother is pushing him to go to the Rockets.

The race to land Brent Barry appears to be down to five teams, with the Spurs in the mix along with Phoenix, Dallas, Houston and Boston. Barry was traded from the Spurs to Seattle last week as part of the deal that brought Thomas to San Antonio. The SuperSonics placed him on waivers Friday, meaning he won't be eligible to sign with a team until Tuesday. If Barry chooses to re-sign with the Spurs, he must wait 30 days per NBA rules.
