A plea to the general viewing public of Dallas-Mavs.com
Hey..... So last night around midnight while I was sleeping another one of those idiotic bots hit the board. Luckily, DJ banned the account to stop it from posting more of it's garbage but left the posts on the board that it had already posted.
So what I need from you guys is this.... whenever I am unable to get to cleaning up messages from a bot attack in a timely manner it would be very helpful to me if you would not QUOTE the bot's message when replying. Or, if you do have to quote him at least remove the text that starts with [ URL ] and ends with [ /URL ] (without the spaces).
I very much appreciate any help you guys give me on this.

no problem.
My question is why? Obviously, you are probably deleting the posts or editing them. So is that what you are saying, because it will be less work? No problem bro.
I'm just wondering if it makes a difference with the bot, or web crawler. This is just less work for you to edit right?

If no one quotes the bot all he has to do is delete the bot and all his posts go away (I think). At the very least he can do a search for all posts made by the bot and delete them in short order.
If people quote the bot, it adds a lot more work because then he has to visit each thread, and edit other people's posts one at a time.

I love quoting bots, but I always remove the tags...

Almost right jthig, and I have noticed that Underdog and I do appreciate it.
When you ban a user, the posts do remain.... so I have to go and delete the posts. And as thig pointed out, when you quote him and leave the tags I have to edit your posts to remove the tags.
So it would make my life easier if you could just remove them if you find it necessary to quote the bot.
And thanks in advance.

I must have missed this one while I was gone.
I thought for sure that with a title like that, it would have something to do with sike.
