Kaman
According to Tom Ziller of SB Nation, Hornets are actively shopping Chris Kaman, and will keep him inactive as they pursue a deal:
Quote:
Jan 28, 2012 - It's no surprise that the New Orleans Hornets are looking to flip center Chris Kaman, a veteran whose expensive contract will expire at the end of the season, before the March 15 trade deadline. That the Hornets have decided to keep Kaman at home for now while seeking a trade, as ESPN's Marc Stein reports is the case, is, however, fairly unorthodox.
Stein reports that there is no trade for Kaman, a 29-year-old one-time All-Star, pending right now. But the struggling Hornets, 4-15 after a win over the Orlando Magic on Friday, are looking more to the future, and would rather give minutes to potential long-term prospects Jason Smith, Al-Farouq Aminu and Gustavo Ayon. It doesn't hurt New Orlean's long-term cause that one less solid NBA player could result in fewer wins and a better chance at a top-three pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.
Kaman has missed 50 or more games in two of the past three seasons. He did have a strong 2009-10 season, appearing in 76 games, playing a career-high 2,600 minutes and averaging 18.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Unless he receives a contract extension midseason after being traded, he'll be one of the better centers available in free agency, though his age will limit his market considerably.

Would you guys flip Haywood for Kaman?

Two years or so ago I was livid that jkiddo wasn't sent to gsw for kaman/bdiddy.
It appears I was wrong. We don't need kaman anymore.

I'd do it to shed Haywood's deal.

New Orleans isn't going to have any interest in Haywood.

Has there ever been a player this board has proposed/rumored to be traded to the Mavs than Chris Kaman?
I think at the end of his career we should at least sign him to an honorary 10 day contract to let him retire a Mav. It only seems right at this point.

Lol'd
It would take a 3rd team wanting Haywood. We get Kaman. Hornets get some young piece.

For what it's worth, I remember wanting Butler for a long time before he came to Dallas. I still feel a bit bad about how it all went, just as he started to produce big number his knee let him down.

New Orleans is looking to shed Cap that being said our center position is the least of our problems right now anyways. But the league is going to need to lower their price to get a deal because unlike paul no one will over pay for kaman. A good fit maybe Indiana especially if they feel Foster's injury maybe worse than expected. Amundson has been beyond terrible.

Wood is a much better defender than Kaman. Kaman's offense is nice, but not worth it.

Obviously, Wood is a better long-term fit for Dallas but for 3D's sake, Kaman all day.
Not sure Wood is what Nawlins is looking for though.

Haywood for Kaman would only make sense to New Orleans if they knew they could get something decent for Okafor in a trade and thought that paying Haywood $27 million for the next three years would be better than paying Okafor $27 million for the next two years. I wouldn't expect it to happen. They'll probably just keep Okafor and hope to land a decent player for Kaman since he's redundant with Okafor already on the roster. Haywood would be just as redundant alongside Okafor.
As rabbitproof mentioned, for us it'd be all about making room for a big splash next summer. Talent-wise I'd take Haywood over Kaman all things considered.
