Exclamation Jason Kidd suffers "career-ending" knee injury during practice

Quote:
Jason Kidd injures knee; out for season, career?

link

Kidd, 38, was carried away on a stretcher during Friday morning practice with what he said was a career-ending left knee injury.

“It’s over for me and my career,” said Kidd, who is being examined by team doctors.

A ten-time NBA All-Star and future Hall of Famer, Kidd is one of the game’s all-time point guards and had a distinguished 17-year career with Dallas, New Jersey and Phoenix.

“It’s not something that I planned,” he said. “All I can say right now is that I had a wonderful run of 17 years and stayed mostly injury-free. I thank God for this blessing and putting such great people around me for all of my career in the NBA. I have to go out with my head high and not be disappointed and have no regrets. I have so many things I can be thankful for over my 17 years.”

Kidd was battling for position under the basket with Ian Mahinmi when he fell to the ground in pain and clutched his left knee.

“I cried so much about it when I was laying on the floor, but when I got in the locker room Dr. Souryal and I talked and he said that I needed to be positive and thank God for the wonderful 17 years I've had,” he said. “There’s nothing I wanted more than to win a ring with the Dallas Mavericks.”

Kidd remained under the basket for several minutes while being tended to by team medical officials. A stretcher was finally brought onto the court to carry him off while his teammates came to his side.

“I have so many great memories,” Kidd said. “Making it to the NBA Finals, winning Rookie of the Year, winning a gold medal with Team USA. There are so many things I can smile about, but this isn't the way I wanted it to end.”

Yeah, some people are no fun...

I was hoping for a few knee-jerk freakouts before someone pointed out the date (as if clicking on the link doesn't give it away!)

It depends on whether or not you're April Foolin' - short answer, no (but I'm not sure what that means during a virtual opposite day..)

You misspelled Chad Pennington, dude.

I knew it from the start. That UD's always up to no good.

Heh, I actually doctored-up an article on Mutombo's career-ending injury, but Pennington could've worked just the same...

obvious april fools, but it didn't even bother me, it actually excited me about the prospect of JJB taking over dutes at starting PG. next time use a dirk injury to freak me out, lol

Ooooh burn. Don't expect UD to be posting around here for the next few days, he'll be busy nursing his wounds from this one.
