PGT: Refs stay mostly neutral, Clutch Nowitzki tops Portland
Dirk 33/7, Peja 21/5, Kidd 18/8.
No turnovers in the 2nd half.

I think we all know what really happened here: Mad GDT mojo. Now 7-0.
Feel free to mail me cash, jewels, or other prizes.

Where are all those "experts" who picked Portland?
It looks like they forgot about the most important factor in this series...the Dirk factor.

Bob Ortegal's keys to the game:
* high dark business socks
* no pants
* hands designed for optimal whacking
* perfect whacking technique for maximum output

Scores 15 in the first half, couple free throws here and there in the 2nd half.
Aldridge summary.

If we are going to split in Portland, I would rather Dallas win Thursday's game...the odds of Portland having to beat Dallas 4 in a row would be staggering....
The obligatory Dallas was up 2-0 against Miami reminder needs to be inserted here.....Dallas needs to have a killer instinct in Portland...

Thanks for doing your part, my friend, but be careful not to try and steal Chuck's glory. I'm just looking out for your safety...

Jason Terry has come up with the perfect formula. Instead of riding the emotions of a win pretend the playoffs just started over again and play the next game as if it were game 1 and win and repeat!

Back to the game, that was a blast. I never really had a doubt the Mavs would put the Blazers away.
Nowitzki was a beast, as always. Like McHale said, the guy is a closer.
Barea really contributed well in the second half. Nice job, little fella!
Peja was phenomenal on offense, and Chandler was phenomenal on defense. Kidd was just phenomenal. The guy is really bringing it.

14 4th Quarter points for the NBA's best Closer. Beast.
Boy, I hope Dirk teaching Kidd to shoot isn't just a media gimmick, but has legitimately helped him, because look at what he's doing. Kidd is scoring like normal NBA PG's can on any given night, and look how much freaking better that makes us. He only has 12 assists this series, but I couldn't care less if he keeps hitting shots.
Peja is exactly what the Mavs have never had. A lights out, knock down shooter who can space the floor and can open threes. Hopefully he can put up a few more games like that.
I'm actually proud of RC. He took JJB out exactly when he should have (well, maybe a minute or two late). JJB was playing pretty good ball (he was still 2-7, but he was more at ease) so RC could have been stubborn and rode him out, but he didn't. Thanks, RC! Problem is, JJB will NOT get those charge calls in Portland.
Haywood, PLEASE make a ft. Portland might start intentionally fouling him soon. I would. Outside of that, he played some very good D.
Tyson played great D down the stretch.
Terry was solid. Played pretty good D outside of postups where he's helpless. Didn't force much. Wish he could hit threes, though.
Defense in the 4th was ELITE! Loved it. NOTHING was easy.
Reffing was surprisingly Okay. Portland got some weak calls. No call on the LA charge was a joke. Outside of that, it wasn't too bad. I think the National Media attention played a factor.

I really think that is overplayed, if we were to win 1 in Portland it doesn't matter which game it is. Either way it is 3-1, each game is an individual game.

So Dirk only needed 33 instead of 50 to beat Crawford...

Kenny just said the Mavs are playing the best in the West right now.

BTW, Terry's offense has been whatever for the most part, but he's playing surprisingly good D. I'm shocked.

Mavs have covered the spread twice now. Miami last night was the only other team to cover. All other favorites are 0-10 against the spread. Seems like we're a little underrated....

The only thing Dirk needed was a slam dunk a la Woody Harrelson in White Men Can't Jump... right over LA or Camby.
There's always Game 3, Dirk.

Terry's defense has been pretty good, except for getting lost on a few backdoor lobs. He's been physical with the Portland guards when they try to post him up, and he's staying in front of his man and fighting hard to get through screens. He's also dug down and come up with several timely steals. Very nice.
If I'm Portland right now, I'm wondering what I have to do to get a win. I just got a really good game from my starters, and I didn't really come close. Their problem is, they don't have a go-to guy and they don't have a bench.
