Diaw
Question?
Is Phoenix just trying to dump Diaw right now, as not a fit?
I have been reading that their hasn't been much want for him, that teams were calling for Barbosa, but not him due to his contract.
Would Dallas consider Stack and E Jones for Diaw, and move Howard to the SG?
This would save Phoenix some $$.
Dallas would then start Kidd, Howard, Diaw, Dirk, and Diop (I am guessing). Running a motion offense with Diaw underneath proving the low post scoring, and Kidd running the break, and allowing Dirk to play out on the perimeter pick n roll/pop.
I can see Diaw working well in the roll that he was in while Amare was out, where he was the inside guy. He has the defensive speed, I think, to guard the SF though, and that would be huge for Dallas.

I would love Diaw, but I don't see Kerr making a move to help us out.

Eh....the rivalry is going away with Dal/Pho. Too many new up and comers to worry with along with the Lakers.
I question whether they are really wanting to part with the contract or not.

Really? I think the rivalry is still strong... a rivalry between the 5-8 teams in the West.

Kind of makes it much tougher though if you can't trade with 8 of 30 teams at all, and then you add the "others" in the East, and the ones who have no interest.

If money is tight, which it seems to be...I don't see Diaw as an option. The contract is tough for an inconsistent player.

The money isn't tight for me at all when it comes to paying players. It might be for Mark, but for me, I don't care how much he pays a player, or for how long................LOL

we should make a giant donations jar for Cuban and give it to him and say, "Here you go, no excuses now."

Diaw is only inconsistent because he gets inconsistent minutes, and Mike Dan And Tony asked of inconsistent things from him. I personally, really really like Diaw--and he would be a great 3 to play with Dirk, and if he knew he was going to get 30 minutes a night, the guy will flourish (as seen in the Amare-less year). I just don't see the Suns doing this deal because they could get more IMHO than Stack/EJ.

Phx would never take Stack and Eddie Jones for Diaw. Diaw is a good player. If Barbosa or Diaw is traded both will bring Phx very very good players back to Phx. He is inconsistent and maybe because of his mins and because they go to Amare, like SA goes to Duncan. At times Diaw seems to stand around but at other times he looks like a star.
If he really buckles down and really wants to play, i feel he can be a good go to guy in the nba for a team. That is how good he can be. Eddie Jones i doubt will bring anything and Stackhouse might a little but not near a player, like Diaw.
For Diaw they would want a bruiser down low that can score, like a Brand, Zach Randolph, Haslem, David Lee, a younger Brad Miller, Foster from Ind, Kaman, these type of players. Let Amare be a bruising power forward scorring everywhere and then sustitute time with Shaq and a David Lee, Foster, Miller, Kaman. This is what Phx needs and then for Barbosa a darn good pg in return. They must get a good pg for Barbosa if they trade him and with the style they play, Barbosa is really good.
It looks like Phx is going to a SA Spurs type team and this will be wild seeing defense first, paint play and more half court basketball.

Regardlss of contracts etc. That lineup makes us weaker than ever at perimeter shooting. Worst 3pt shooting startiing 5 in the league for sure.
Maybe just Rip the band aid off quickly and make some big moves (Dirk/Kidd) for young talent and play for 2010-2012-ish.. I think I could find a way to still watch, maybe. It may be better to see Dirk and Kidd win a ring somewhere else than never win one here. IDK.

3pt shooting is the most unimportant of the "needs" of good teams. They need one player on the court that starts, and a few specialists.
Every team that decides to shoot 3's without getting the high percentage inside points is doomed from the beginning.
You can draft 3pt shooters and put them outside with a true inside player like Shaq/Akeem/Duncan but you only need one or two to keep teams honest -- if you don't have that inside force.
Even with the trade Dallas has Dirk/Terry/Foster who are 3pt shooters. Wright should be able to become one. Diaw wasn't awful 33% this last year. Howard has his times, and Kidd raised his percent after coming to the Mavs.
I don't see the problem, but do see the upside, IF Dallas could make it happen with Stack/EJones because neither of them are 3pt shooter either.

Dirk won the 3 point shooting contest once...
Play that lineup above and if Diaw is successful in the low post, then that will take some defensive pressure off the perimeter. Let Dirk and Kidd shoot the long J's. Terry off the bench.
I fail to see a 3 point shooting weakness in the lineup above...

imagine dirk back in the pick in pop/roll game, those were the years when he didnt have to work so hard and the mavs were one of the best offensive teams in the league...sounds like carlisle is makin the shift back to that offensive style too

YES you fail to see the 3pt shooting weakness It would become a sore sight before ya know it. Trade won't happen anyway, well I wouldn't if I were Pheonix.

Whey not trade Bass instead of Jones? Gotta think that would at least keep Phoenix on the line for a few minutes...

How about Josh Howard for Diaw, Grant Hill and Phoenix's 2010 No. 1?

How about Josh Howard straight up for Boris Diaw? It works financially, and Howard has a shorter contract than Diaw.
