Q: How much is Marquis Daniels worth on the open market?

SEFKO: The way the Mavericks work, they will ask Daniels’ agent to find out what Daniels could procure on the open market. Then they will match that figure and possibly add a year or two to the total. Nobody knows for sure, but the best guess is that it’s going to take between $3 million and $4 million to secure Daniels’ return. The Mavericks will try to get several years on the contract, but it’s likely there will be a player option some time after two or three years in case Daniels turns out to be the next Tracy McGrady.

I think $27 million is way too much. The most it should take to sign him is less than half that amount over 4 years.

mavs are going to lose daniels..he is going to be the 6 million dollar man..probably a contract similar to ricky davis but including a player option in case he's the next t-mac

one of the teams under the cap(spurs, nuggets, hawks, jazz) will probably make him the offer

I'd be shocked to see hiim get three years at anything significantly over the MLE.

I would be too. I mean everyone sees there is potential there but how much do you pay for potential? And undrafted at that. The only team I would see them overpaying for Daniels would be a team like the BOBCATS. They get a young player to go with their 1st round pick.
