We've already had this conversation in other threads, their are plenty more All-Star worthy forwards in the West.

I love me some Jho, but he isn't All-Star caliber as a West forward. I'm sure 5-0 will come along soon enough to give you a long list.

You forget to mention that Brand's #'s have dropped
last year he was a 23-10 guy now hes a 18-9 guy. while Howard has taken a big-step.

Those numbers say that josh has a case. Pretty studly.

That doesn't have anything to do with who makes the All-Star team or not.

He has a case, but he's not going to make it unfortunately. I want him to make it, but I seriously doubt he will

He will. by the time the results get in Howard is gonna be averaging 21/9 which is good enough to get him in.

If he is averaging 21/9 by the break he'll be deserving, but there is no way he will be averaging 9 boards a game.

No his boards look to be starting to drop off as his offense has picked up.
HOWEVER if you are starting to look at two-way players, he's putting some pretty big defensive stands on some guys.

No way JHo's gonna get it. Too many good players on this team, and too many good forwards in the West.

No, I was just messing around. But there're plenty good fowards in the West. Just don't see it happens soon.

Well, Carmelo's suspension might take him out of the running so that could bump Josh up one spot. Still, like others are saying, the West is pretty stacked this year at the forward spot so Josh will have a hard time getting in. The important thing as a Mavs fan is that once again Josh looks like he has taken another step forward with his game.

Melo will still be hot. AI hasn't played for quite awhile but is still the leading guard in the Eastern AS race.

Joking? No? Odd.
Okay, so the case that most people make is that he's the second best player on a winning team...so what? I don't want to know what would happen to this team if Dirk went down, but heaven forbid that happen I don't think Josh could do what Brand is doing in carrying a franchise by himself (good supporting cast, but we aren't too shabby either you know..) and aside from that Marion is the THIRD best player on his team and his numbers are better than Jho's. If your going to make that argument Marion is a must for the team as well (and should be anyway).
His numbers increased, thats great for us but they aren't matching the top tier forwards. Theres always the outside chance he may get in personally I think the all-star game is based on a) popularity (starting 5, fans) and b) star status.

josh has about as much of a chance of getting in the all star game as i have of having a fantasy threesome with vanessa minillo and kate beckinsale.
in other words, its not going to happen and it would be a complete miscarriage of all things good if he were voted in. the guy has missed a significant portion of games, routinely makes bone headed decisions, and plays with low basketball IQ at times. boozer/dirk/kg/duncan/lewis/marion/brand all get the nod ahead of jho. hes getting a lot of recognition now b/c he plays on a good team with a lot of single coverage.

Maybe he could be chosen for the 3 point shooting contest.

You have to add Carmelo and Zach Randolph to that list as well, I think.

I'm confused how Brand being better than Josh in every statistical category means Josh has a case.

This year is not Josh year to make the All-Star team. Maybe next year. His year is coming, but for him to make the All-Star team this year he would need to average a double-double for this to happen. Kinda on the lines of a Marion stat line. Josh is not there. His rebounding is not there, plus his assists are not there. Anytime you can score 30 points w/o a rebound and zero or one assists, that tells me that you are not ready for All-Star status. It tells me that you may be ready for Western Conference player of the week.
I love Josh to death, but his mnumbers across the board has to pick up to get to that level. Even his scoring would have to come up to around 22 points a game as well.

nah, he's not there quite yet. He will make it though down the road just like Mike Finley made it eventually. It takes awhile for someone like him to make the squad. He keeps knocking down the 3 like he is now though, and that time will come much more quickly.

Shawn Marion will get in before Howard, along with many other reserve forwards.
howard is a good player but not an all-star

I was actually impressed with josh last night since he decided not to be the most selfish player in the nba and actually made quite a few nice passes. Great game for him. That said, hes not an all star. How some of you are crazy enough to keep making this argument is beyond me. Could he get in some year even though hes not deserving because the mavs deserve a second all star? Very possible though it wont be this year. Does he "deserve" to be an all star? No.

Because Howards team is doing better... and he's a big part of that! Nevermind the fact that Brand doesn't have Dirk to help him out or anything.

Battier, Smith, and Howard are all making their teams look pretty smart.
Money! These teams should go on and pat themselves on the back as John Hollinger highlights the 10 best moves of the offseason. Story
Insider article today from Hollinger appears to mention Mavs and Howard.
Anyone care to post it?

Honestly, it may actually happen this year. There's a lot of media attention about how good the Mavs are playing and that they need two all stars.
