Preseason GDT - "were actually trying this time" Dallas at Houston 10/23/09
Here it is- final game of the preseason and a supposed tune-upper for the regular season so we are supposedly all in. Go Mavs!
No Josh, and Damp has family issues to take care of supposedly, but otherwise a full cast of Kidd, Marion, Dirk, Terry et al. Hopefully it will be a good game and Howard is set to return Tuesday

Boy, i just hope Marion is back 100% and that Josh is healthy for the RS.
I do not want 9 different #2/#3 combinations in the first 10 games...

game preview with JJB:
http://www.nba.com/mavericks/video/originals/
Nothing special, but him and JT before the second cleveland game said the game vs Houston will be a realisitic test before the season starts.
I suspect that the intro with Carlisle and Followill is archive footage.

Sefko says Robo starts and Gooden doesn't:
Quote:
Roddy Beaubois will make the start again tonight at shooting guard and he'll get a rare test as he sees Houston's Aaron Brooks, who is in the same league as the Mavericks' rookie with his speed and quickness.
Asked before the game if Beaubois will match up with Brooks, coach Rick Carlisle said: "Possibly. We'll look at where we're at in the game and if there's a chance to get him in there to play some minutes, we'll do that. He's shown some stretches of solid play. And of course he's had others where it's a learning situation.''
The Mavericks also are starting Quinton Ross, Shawn Marion, Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd.
The Rockets' starters: Shane Battier, Carl Landry, Chuck Hayes, Trevor Ariza and Brooks.
If you're following along on TV and not paying attention to this blog, pay special notice to how Beaubois handles the challenge of Brooks.

I dunno if anybody saw it, but they did the Top 5 plays of the preseason on ESPN about an hour ago, and Roddy's wrap-around assist to Dirk at the AAC was #2. Sick.

he's not smaller than Brooks, or is he?
anyway, you guys saw that little episode from practice?:
Quote:
Don't get the idea that the Mavericks are bored with the preseason, but they had a quick little dunk contest after shootaround this morning.
As the players were starting to change their shoes and head toward the bus, rookie Roddy Beaubois came racing to the paint, lifted off and threw down a one-handed jam that impressed everybody.
OK, everybody except Dirk Nowitzki.
Always the last one to get off the court, Dirk told the rookie he should get on the bus and said he can top that dunk that Beaubois had just hammered home.
Dirk got a head of speed and duplicated the one-handed throw-down, which drew laughter from teammates. After all, a 7-footer should be able to dunk as well as a 6-2 guard.
Not to be outdone, Beaubois got off his chair and said, "OK, you don't have this one.''
He drove toward the rim and gave the ball a loop-de-loop motion before jamming it through the hoop with massive amounts of authority.
It was a mini version of the old Dominique Wilkins contest winners.
Dirk would not give in, however. He got a ball and took off toward the basket and ...
Completely whiffed. He threw the ball over the rim and to the other side of the basket.
"I lost the ball,'' he said.
"Yeah, right,'' Beaubois responded
But, again, don't get the idea that they are tired of preseason basketball.
