well so is the MSM remark..I would just love to find out who exactly people are referring to when they make these ridiculous remarks.. the MSM... can you be a little more specific ? is it one person? 10 persons? a magazine? a news station? 10 news stations? broadcast network? something specific? I find it intellectually lazy to make such broad and generalizing comments when trying to make a point..

Well I certainly can admit the Times does have a liberal slant but to indict the entire media industry is silly. I give you more credit than that capcity.. you know as well as I do this straw man argument has gotten out of hand..

that makes a little more sense. Are you arguing that you can't see a reason for the label Main Stream Media, that the label itself is not useful, or are you arguing that the Main Stream Media is not politically biased?

What did you mean by
"the entire MSM was blaming bush for the gas prices? "
in your earlier post?

First of all I realize Bush has nothing to do with gas prices. His approval ratings may suffer because of this but to blame it on the media is lazy and inaccurate. He gets credit for things he has nothing to with and vice versa. That's the nature of Bush's or any President's job.

GG, I don't think anyone was blaming the relationship between gas prices and approval ratings on the media, just that the media aren't trumpeting the rise in approval ratings like they did the decline.

Here's that picture:
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washing...s-prices_x.htm

and it's a recent one. This is so fascinating to me because of what it implies:
1) people are so simple that they would vote a president in or out of office based on gas prices.
2) approval ratings are real, but people don't vote based on their approval
3) polls like these measure something less meaningful than what people really make decisions about

of course, less interestingly maybe, there's another factor driving both.

I was in San Diego this last week and in anti-Aunald adds, they were very explicitly blaming Bush for gas prices.

I actually heard a poll quoted on the radio last week as finding that some large percentage of people (around 50%?) believed the price drop is motivated by republicans for the purpose of the elections

$2.07? Awesome. It is still around $2.20 here which is typically one of the lowest gas prices in the state.

Well, it might be because this is Alice's store and she didn't like paying over $2/gal, but I'll take it at the present time.

And yes, I have met/know Alice Walton -- she doesn't seem to be a "devil" at all. Maybe a little too much of a boozer, but not a "devil".
