Is a punch an automatic suspension, even if it doesn't land...and is it even a punch if you don't extend? I'm reaching here but we need KG on that wall Sunday night.

At the very least, KG can't fight. He was back pedaling from McDyess the whole time, and this is after he initiated the problem by shoving McDyess, and when McDyess shoves him back and takes a step toward him, KG sort of throws the ball of McDyess' chest. And then KG started back pedaling.

The Suns just keep getting break after break after break.

That flopping that guy did wasn't that necessary. But I think he might get a game or two cause he really didn't throw a serious punch but he had bald up fist.

Usually punches that don't land are a one game suspension, like 5-0 said. I didn't see the play, but judging fromt he description 5-0 gave I doubt KG gets more than a game.

It's not like Minnesota is worth a damn anyways... Even with KG, they wouldn't have given the Suns much of a problem.

yes any punch that lands or doesnt is a 1 game suspension. Also to those talking poorly about kg and fighting. I dont care for kg but if he does actually get in a fight that team is flat out screwed. they actually have a shot at the playoffs this year. If he gets suspended for 10-15 games for a fight that completely goes away.

I watched it, and the only problem I saw was that KGarnett acted like he was Carmelo Anthony without actually landing the punch.
I mean he was running backwards faster than McDyess could run forward. Garnett gets mad, throw a ball, throw a punch that doesn't land, and heads for the sideline hoping he doesn't trip over his dress. Em-barr-ass-ing.
<edit> and KG is not going to get suspended. KGarnett might be, but KG is a valued mod on this board, and he would never get suspended.

Maybe garnett remembers the last time he didn't backup.

Still no work on Garnett, but Ricky Davis won't be there.
Associated Press
MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Davis was suspended for one game because he left the bench and walked into the locker room during Friday's 104-98 double-overtime loss to the Pistons.
Davis left the bench after he was replaced by Randy Foye during the third quarter. He returned a couple of minutes later, but appeared upset. He did not play the rest of the game.
"You can't have that happen," Wolves vice president of basketball operations Kevin McHale said Saturday. "There are certain things that are out of bounds."
Moments before McHale told reporters of the suspension, Wolves coach Dwane Casey said he "did not know" if there would be disciplinary action against Davis.
When told that McHale made the suspension public, Casey said it was a mutual decision made by himself, McHale and owner Glen Taylor.
Davis, the team's second-leading scorer, did not talk to reporters after Friday's loss or after Saturday's practice.
After a mediocre start to the season, the Wolves have won seven of their last 10. Davis has played a key role during the stretch, averaging over 17 points and 40 minutes per game.
"He's been playing very well and being productive," McHale said. "This is just one of those things that happen."
McHale said Davis' frustration has not been building up, and that his actions on Friday were an isolated incident.
Added Casey: "All players have bad nights where the basket just seems smaller and frustration sets in. It was my decision not to put him back in."
Davis has played for five teams during his eight-year career, and is no stranger to controversy. It was rumored that he was traded from Cleveland because of a rift with LeBron James, and that he tried to undermine the leadership of Paul Pierce while in Boston.
Davis' most embarrassing moment came in 2003 during a game against Utah. Looking to notch his first career triple-double, Davis shot and missed at his own basket during garbage time in an ill-fated attempt to grab his 10th rebound.
McHale added that Davis will only miss Sunday's game at Phoenix, and that any fines issued will be a "private matter."

McHale is an absolute idiot. If he's going to suspend a guy, he'd sure as hell better let the coach do it.

From FoxSports:
Not much of a fight
Kevin Garnett has words for the Pistons. (Tom Olmscheid / Associated Press)
The Kevin Garnett-Antonio McDyess fracas wasn't exactly a ferocious one. Whereas four guys had to hold back a furious McDyess, some little guy in a suit stood in front of Garnett even as the Big Ticket was backing up.
I wonder if David Stern would condone a strictly-for-charity bout between Garnett and Carmelo Anthony? It could be billed as the patty-cake championship of the world.

Will a KG decision is handed down on Sunday? McDyess played in the Pistons' Saturday game against the Kings.

Karl Dismayed About Garnett Suspension
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: January 22, 2007
Filed at 5:48 p.m. ET
DENVER (AP) -- Nuggets coach George Karl did the math and it didn't add up: Denver star Carmelo Anthony drew a 15-game suspension for his fight, Minnesota's Kevin Garnett got a one-game penalty for another brawl.
''Obviously, if you land the punch it's 14 games,'' Karl said Monday. ''Throwing one is one (game) and hitting (someone) is 14. That's the equation I read. I'm just a simple guy. I couldn't pass calculus.''
Anthony was set to return Monday night when Memphis visited Denver. He had been out since throwing a punch during a wild brawl against the New York Knicks on Dec. 16.
''Being away from (basketball), it really made me think about how much I appreciate it,'' Anthony said. ''I wish I could take that punch back.''
Anthony hit Knicks guard Mardy Collins, who had collared J.R. Smith on the way to the basket. In all, 10 players were ejected and seven were suspended.
Garnett, a perennial All-Star, sat out Sunday night's game against Phoenix. He was suspended after throwing a punch at Detroit's Antonio McDyess on Friday night.
When McDyess knocked down Minnesota's Mark Madsen with a forearm shove, Garnett threw the ball at the Pistons player. McDyess charged with his fists ready and Garnett took a swipe at him. Those actions, however, did not prompt a bigger brawl.
''I just thought it was kind of unique that everything that J.R. and Melo were blamed for, Kevin Garnett did in the same incident,'' Karl said. ''He escalated a fight, he threw a punch, he threw a ball and gets one game. It was kind of a unique interpretation. I know it's a hard job, but no, it doesn't feel like it was a fair evaluation.''
Anthony met with NBA commissioner David Stern last week to talk about the fight at Madison Square Garden and said it went well.
''He explained a lot of things and made more things clearer to me,'' Anthony said. ''He got a chance to talk, I got a chance to talk and hopefully we're both on the same page. It wasn't so much of a message, it was just a generic conversation just to get everybody back on track.''
