Dallas/Memphis/Cleveland
Dallas gives:
Terry
George
Bass
Ager (it's my understanding that according to a new forum rule that M. Ager must be included in any proposed trade)
Dallas gets:
Mike Miller
Brian Cardinal
Kyle Lowry
Memphis gives:
Mike Miller
Brian Cardinal
Kyle Lowry
Memphis gets:
Bass
Ager
George
Donyell Marshall
Ira Newble
Cleveland No. 1 draft pick
Cleveland gives:
Donyell Marshall
Ira Newble
No. 1 draft pick
Cleveland gets:
Jason Terry
Why Dallas does it:
Dallas gets its starting Shooting Guard and a back up point to Devin Harris. Cardinal will be more or less suitable for those few minutes the Mavs need behind Dirk at the power forward. (Best of all, IMHO, although not a public reason for the deal, Avery can no longer go with small line ups pairing either Dirk & Bass or Harris & Terry, or worst of all, all four of them playing with another 2 or3. Never give a man tools you can't trust him to use correctly).
Why Memphis does it:
Salary Dump. George & Newble are on the last year of their contract. Everyone else has only one year left after that. Bass is cheap. Another No. 1 draft pick to squander.
Why Cleveland does it:
Terry spreads the court for them and can play the point when paired with James. The price is cheap.

A true SG who can also replace the shooting ability of Terry.
Dallas would never do it.
If Memphis would, Dallas and Cleveland should.

Substitute Bass for $3M Cash... and it might appeal to Memphis!

Doesn't work under the Salary Cap if you do that (according to RealGM). If it isn't enough for Memphis, then Dallas or Cleveland could add in 2nd round draft picks each.

Cleveland is in luxury tax hell. They don't touch Terry unless they can move Larry Hughes in the same deal.

No, we can't use someone other than JET and Bass (unless you think Memphis is foolish enough to think Trenton Hassell is the second coming of Kwame Brown).
The salaries have to match. Dallas doesn't have any big expiring deals to trade.
If you don't want to trade JET and Bass, then you've got to be prepared to give up Harris or Howard or Dirk or, maybe, Stack--because the rest of the team doesn't have any trade value (Diop excepted).

According to HoopsHype, Memphis is trying to package Brian Cardinal with Mike Miller, and shopping Kyle Lowry. That news makes this deal look pretty feasible.

Nice trade idea SS!
I like this one almost as well as KG Vet's proposed LAC deal, although if I'm trying to land a backup PG to spell Devin, I would prefer Cassell to Lowry. Lowry obviously has more tread on the tires, but I don't trust his game. I want a dependable backup for limited minutes with big game experience. Cassell fits that bill.
However, I would be happy with either deal.
