Lost in tonights victory was the fact that with the win, Don Nelson has moved into the #2 spot for all time coaching victories. Congrats Nellie!!!

Absolutely. Whatever you may think of Nellie, that is a tremendous acomplishment. Here's hoping he continues climbing up the charts at a super quick rate, and gets his name on another distinguished list: coaches who have won NBA championships.

RE:Congrats Nellie......#2
Nellie reached two interesting milestones.
First, this game was his 3,000 NBA game as either a coach or player.
Second, it was coaching victory #1111, passing Pat Riley's 1110, trailing only the great Lenny Wilkens at 1268.
Nellie should pass Wilkens during his current contract with ease.

Congrats to Nellie.
He has a very good chance of passing Lenny Wilkens record if he plays out his contract. It would certainly be topped off if he could win a championship as well.

I think Nellie has a legit shot at not only Wilkens record, but two championships.

The 3,000 game mark as either a coach or player is truly mind-boggling. That's literally over 8 years worth of pro basketball. One eighth of his life has been comprised of NBA gamedays.

36 years "in the NBA" - yes. But 3000/365 = more than 8 years worth of actual game days.

Congrats Nellie!
You are not only one of the greatest basketball minds ever... you are far and away the coolest! I wish I could have seen every one of those 3,000 games! Here is to 3,000 more!

There is nothing wrong with criticizing a team if your points are valid. But most of the armchair coaches on this board talk pseudo-basketball-ese and make results oriented comments as if they actually have an understanding of the game at the pro level. Most of the comments are based on disappointment from unrealistic expectations or the most ludicrous notion that you sitting in your barc-o-lounger knows more about how to win basketball games than Nelson. Just not gonna happen, boysan.-TwoDeep3

The best part is that he will do it with a lot less defeats than Wilkens.

True Chiwas, but Wilkens was a rebuilder. He had some pathetic teams (and some good ones of course but some really bad lean years). That he set that record is a tribute to his coaching greatness. Nellie will pass him. Nellie had some stinkers as well, but Nellie has been blessed with some very good teams.
