Doesn't anyone want the No. 3 pick??
Quote:
According to Bulls general manager John Paxson, NBA teams are not burning up the phone lines to get the No. 3 draft pick.
It's been minimal," Paxson said of interest in the pick. "There have been several teams that have called, but nothing real serious on the table.
"We're exploring everything - whether we keep this pick, what we do with it, whether we move the pick. When it comes down to it, you have to have a willing partner in any deal, and sometimes that's difficult to do. I'm confident we'll come out of this draft with a good player or a scenario that makes us a better team."

Is Paxson just being greedy or is nobody (Mavs) really interested in the No. 3 pick? The Article

RE:Doesn't anyone want the No. 3 pick??
Maybe not as much as he expects. There could be a Yao Ming, a Dirk Nowitzki, or a T-Mac in the bunch but there really isnt much hype behind players past the 2nd overall. Because of that each team is investigating, thinking that they can pick up a talented and unhyped player lower in the draft, but there is no absolutely clear 3rd choice.
Say we like Chris Duhon. He isnt very well hyped and many projections see him in the second round, but he is very attractive to many teams. He could go as early as 8-10, or as late as mid second round. Securing him might be a priority for teams but with the above-average talent of this draft combined with small number of "stars", teams arent as aggressive at getting the 3-15. They want to move up but when there is a chance that they can get the player they are interested in later, then there isnt as much desperation. There are any number of good players that teams could want, but no player past the 2nd spot that is head and shoulders above the rest so the projections of the 3-60 spots are enormously volatile this year.
Paxson also might be saying this because he set his expectations too high. Teams are always working out deals but with the uncertainty of the expansion draft, and the awkward 2003-2004 season, teams are not throwing it all on the line for this season's draft. It is very difficult to gauge just how valuable a 3rd pick overall is until after the draft camps and the expansion draft.

Id rather have Chandler over the #3. Unless #3 could get us more in another trade.
But we couldnt S&T using the pick since FA isnt till Mid July thou.

I'd take Antonio Davis and the #3 for Walker anyday of the week.

RE:Doesn't anyone want the No. 3 pick??
The Bulls are finding out that #3 doesn't have much value in a two man draft. Now, whether this draft will be a two man draft or not remains to be seen, but that is the perception right now.
The problem with #3 is that it won't get you what you might need. Deng looks like he'll be a solid player eventually, but you can get solid players later. Livingston might be great, but it might take a while too. Childress isn't worth it. Iguodala might not be either. Pavel is a big risk to take so high...and so on and so on...
This draft is really hard to nail down for all of those reasons.

You'd take a pair of sweaty socks for Walker if you could.

Looking at this form the Mavs point of view...who cares when we get Pavel? If we could do the #3 and Davis for Walker or any scenario like that then we would have to be ALL OVER IT!
