Timber Wolves want Pau Gasol
I just ran across two different rumors that the Timberwolves are interested in Pau Gasol.
Quote:
Mark J. Miller
The Minnesota Timberwolves have the second overall pick in the draft, which seems like it should be a good thing, but the Sporting News reports that the team isn't excited about its choices and has been trying to trade the pick.
The Wolves already have a young guy at forward, Michael Beasley(notes), who fills
the same role as the consensus No. 2 selection, Arizona forward Derrick Williams. The Sporting News reports that the team is asking for a lot in return for the pick: "The latest from Minnesota has the team targeting ... forward Pau Gasol(notes)" of the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for the pick. Gasol
averaged 18.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game last season.
The Timberwolves have already been rejected by the Washington Wizards when they asked to trade the pick for 7-0 center JaVale McGee(notes), the Sporting News notes. McGee averaged
10.1 points, eight rebounds and 2.4 blocked shots per game last season.

The other rumor was from ESPN Insider. I'm not subscribed to the Insider so I could not read the article. Now I can't even find the article, but the rumor was the Timberwolves were looking to trade Kevin Love to the Lakers for Pau-Gasol. Perhaps if any of you have the Insider you could post a quote?

Trading Love for Gasol would be monumentally stupid. Minnesota finally has a young up and coming all-star caliber player. Why trade him away for a guy whose prime years are mostly in the rear-view mirror?

Because it's Minnesota. Their franchise is destined for laughter and failure.
Like trading away KG and basically anyone good.

If these rumors are true I can't fathom why the Timberwolves would covet Gasol? The man has not been playing up to his potential of late and he is sure not worth a Kevin Love.

If the #2 pick can't buy you Javale McGee, then this draft is for absolute shit.
My goodness. Javale McGee?

Yeah, some say there isn't even one player in this draft with superstar potential, not even Irving. But there are a couple of "good value" european big man, with good potential. Anyway, yeah, Kahn is officially the worst GM of all-time if he trades Love for Gasol. I would trade Beasley, and draft Williams, and roll with Rubio-SG for Beasley-Williams-Love-Milicic. That's tons of talent, they just need to play up to their potential.

Wolves want Pau in Minnesota
08:04 AM ET 06.21 | Considered a weaker draft in terms of players, this year's talent grab won't suffer from big names in trade talks. Pau Gasol, Andre Iguodala, Monta Ellis, Chris Kaman, Jonny Flynn and Kevin Love are just a few of the names that have been mentioned. At least give David Kahn credit for being aggressive. He got Rubio when no one ever thought he would. Now, he's shopping the second pick in the draft and there also appears to be some truth to the rumor that Kevin Love could be had for the right cost. Kahn is interested in teaming Rubio with another Spaniard, Pau Gasol, and there are rumors a proposed trade had Love and the second pick in the draft going to L.A. for Gasol. We have a hard time believing that. But could the two teams meet somewhere in-between?

I still find it hard to believe their is any meat to this rumor. How big a joke would Khan be if he gave up a young stud like Love for a soft older player like Gasol?

The Gasol rumor is bullshit. And Kahn declined that Love will be in a trade.
The Wolves actually offered Beasley + #2 for Bynum. Makes sense for them but no sense for the Lakers.

Beasley + #2 for Bynum would be an all round bad trade. Bynum is much better fit for the Lakers then Beasley, but then that is speculation since we do not know how this team will preform under Coach Browns system.
As for the #2 pick we know Williams who will likely go at #2 is a good collegiate player, but how well will he preform in the NBA? Of course I know that goes for all draft picks.
