End of the World?
The talks have broken off, the two sides are starting to not like eachother. What do you think will happen?

RE: End of the World?
There is no way that the palyers or Stern will allow a lockout to happen. They understand that they cannot afford to do it. I imagine they will settle this mess before the draft.

RE:End of the World?
I think that some games will be lost early in the season. It is unfortunate, but I'm afraid it will happen.

RE: End of the World?
this will be done before the draft, bank on it...the league would cease to exist after another lockout, especially with the fights and all...league already has a couple of huge black eyes, a lockout would be the end of it for the NBA

RE: End of the World?
Give me a break. The league could shut it down for the entire year, and if anything, fans would be MORE anxious for the next season. NBA ain't going anywhere, m'friend, no matter what happens with this silly labor dispute.

RE: End of the World?
I agree w/ Chum. League ain't going anywhere just 'cuz they lose some games this year. Saying that, I don't expect 'em to lose any games. They'll resolve it sooner than we think. As Stern pointed out on ESPN, 2 nights ago, there's plenty to gain for the Union to agree now and much to lose if they don't. He also suggested that the talks are still continuing although not at a formal level.
My feeling is with the NHL lockout, both sides understand the sense of urgency to capitalize on the opportunity and gain significant roads into the fan base.

What is the NHL again?
Never underestimate the ability of folks and a union to do things not in the best interests of the business..

I would further say never underestimate the ability of union leaders and negoiators to screw over the union membership and the business for their own selfish reasons.

Everyone could get f'ed. Let's hope - and seriously pray - for an agreement to be reached before the end of the summer.
The NBA isn't going anywhere. They would surely survive a lockout better than the NHL.

RE: End of the World?
who predicted that we'd lose the whole season?
19 people think that we wont miss any. 4 people think we'll miss 11-30 and one person thinks we will miss 82 regular season games, 8 preseason games and the entirety of the offseason?

Hockey was losing money the players get most of the revenue in all of professional sports. Basketball is on the rise. Scoring is up eight teams avgd 100 points per game this season.
